Saints Row 3

It’s weird, each sentence makes sense on its own, but then you put them together and it’s like whaaaaaaaaaa?

Everybody gets put in an orange jumpsuit and sent off to Riker’s.

Well, I’m pretty attached to the game part of SR2. The promotion around it? I dunno. They know their market better than I do.

But if the protagonist of SR3 isn’t my character from SR2 I’ll be bummed. I made this burned-out old hood ala Michael Caine and he worked great. I think I heard the British accent and decided to make a guy that looked like that voice sounded. I’ve tried other customs but…nah. Gotta play him.

I just hope all this extraneous crap doesn’t adversely affect the game. The talk of books and movies makes me think of the dreaded phrase “more emphasis on story”. And a CCG? WTF?

Do we know if SR3 is still a sandbox game? Between all the cross-media crap emphasizing Saints Row’s story, the early talk of much better graphics, and the decision to make Red Faction 4 a more traditional, linear sandbox game, I’m not so sure it is.

What’s a linear sandbox game?

You can do whatever you want, as long as it’s killing aliens in the tunnel.

I was very late to SR2 and after finishing it went straight onto RFG after all of the praise heaped on that (here and and elsewhere) and RFG just fell completely flat for me.

More SR insanity please.

Expressions like “trans-media blowout” are why Bill Hicks was right.

I’m sure some people pay good money for Trans media blowouts.

GTA4.

Trans-media… brand synergy… convergence… all these trendy buzzwords make me want to kill someone with my pimp cane shotgun.

I hope they don’t get cocky like Rockstar did and forget why people love their game.

Did the speed problem on PC ever get fixed for SR2? The one time I tried to play it the game speed was cranked up way too fast to be playable. It was like the camera was undercranked or something. My understanding was that it was also a problem with red faction.

No, but if you spend two minutes watching this you’ll be able to fix it yourself.

Arise! Officially announced!

About Saints Row: The Third

Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on.

I am so up for that.

I really hope the PC version is optimized correctly this time around.

yay!
