Yep, he is a complete and utter douche. What would you expect? He was born into massive privilege and then was able to have some level of success ‘on his own.’ (who knows how much his family connection enabled/powered his success at Bain). When I went to school the most privileged were, generally, the biggest douches. Maybe this had something to do with my being the poor kid on the block so I could see it, who knows (yays.)? And yes, sure, there are special snowflakes that are exceptions to the rule, but in general the principle holds.
As an aside, “W” was able to work around this! Was it due to him getting a big dose of humility by being a ‘loser’ earlier in his business life? Was it Rove’s genius in being able to spin a narrative? IDK, but somehow he was not nearly as scummy as Romney. Bummer, since Romney has to be my horse in the game. I wish that Perry wasn’t functionally retarded – he had a solid back story and he ‘seemed’ like he could connect (sadly, again, retarded).
I have no idea what makes a ‘good president.’ I have a feeling it is mostly about the times in which he lives. I hope that being sharp, well educated, inquisitive and eloquent matter (Bill, I still think you are awesome! You are my model president.), but maybe they don’t.
Re: Romney, here’s the list of things that I can’t believe the right is willing to vote for:
- Government healthcare
- Gun Control
- Familial non-traditional marriage
- Hyper-elitism
He’s nearly the polar opposite of the right’s talking points. Everything they fear in Obama he’s already done.

Nah, you had to be there. ;) No hint that it’s a bad thing at all, just the opposite. The only hesitation (and I’m not quoting verbatim, my memory is not that good!) was what is the best way to do it - bonus, bonus + 401K up, etc.
He was young. And drunk. And needed the money.
CEOs are still the last form of royalty. They’re expected to assume a kind of absolute authority that is hardly to be found anywhere else in society, but like royalty what makes a good CEO, or even what any criteria are at all is hard to discern. This means they run the gamut from complete tools of the board to selfish nitwits looking to line their rat nest to industry changing behemoths.
