When I played it as a kid I thought the sheer size of the universe and the freedom you had was really impressive. IIRC I never managed to finish it though because I kept running out of fuel or resources (?) and couldn’t figure out where to go next.

Close enough because at least 9-12 probably have that exact background somewhere, it’s ROTK 10. It’s one of the few PS2 games I dig out again every few years because it plays like a turn based Mount and Blade.
