I use the Snag-It editor, which is not free but isn’t expensive. I grab a section of the game frame and darken the rest 100%. Save As frame01. Undo, and then with the original selection still waiting for orders, I hold down shift to draw a box around a new section, dark the rest to 100%, save as Frame02, and Undo. Rinse and repeat until I have 5 or 6 images plus the original, upload to Imgur as a new library so I can more easily find them, and boom. Takes about 30 seconds.

Nice tutorial, Scott. It does look very easy. Now, I must win the next game! Lol …

I’ve done it in gimp once or twice, but gimp takes a few seconds to load up and I’m too impatient. I usually just use mspaint. I use the rectangle drawing tool set to solid fill and the color to black. Then draw black boxes over the screenshot. Only takes a couple seconds but is probably the most convoluted way of doing it.

I do it in MS Paint too, like a caveman. And I create all of my images at once. I start with the full image, block out a little, save that, block out a little more, save that, and so on until I have 4-6 images.

I’ve used Paint but I like to be more precise what exactly to reveal each step so I’ve used Gimp to be able to set a transparency layer and exactly mark the area.

Same here.

Okay folks, here’s frame 1.

Machinarium?

Limbo?

Deadlight?

That looks very Amanita… Samorost 3?

Commandos 2?

Got it in one @Fortitudo!

@rho21, you were so close! :-)

One of the most beautiful looking games I’ve played and I love this fella’ making the tea:

oh nice, I’ve played Machinarium, haven’t finished Samorost 3 but it was the first thing that came to mind. Leaving for work now I’ll see if I can get a frame up on my lunch break.

Samorost 3 I think is the better game because I feel, for the most part, it has more direction and the puzzles make more sense in relation to what you’re trying to achieve.

I enjoyed the 2 Samorost, but was frustrated by Machinarium. Sounds like Samorost 3 should be on my watch list!

Haha, I mentioned Samorost 2 in the Rage Quit thread! Machinarium was quite frustrating in places but I think Amanita turned a corner of sorts with Botanicula because both it and Samorost 3 seemed much smoother experiences to me and my girlfriend.

My last two went to the last frame so I’ll try and go for something more identifiable this time round, have at it!.

7 Days to Die?

Operation Flashpoint: Red River?
