It’s the district north of the Missouri river in Kansas City, it includes the suburbs of North Kansas City, Gladstone, Liberty, etc. South of the river is Jackson County, which is very Blue, but north of the river is usually pretty Red.

Oh wow. I thought it was more towards the western center of the state, like Blue Springs. OK then. Good job, north KCMO!

And, I fear in the CA-25, an object lesson in exactly what is meant by a social media echo chamber.

If you asked 500 Twitter progressives/Democrats not from California to name a candidate who was running to unseat an incumbent Republican, the vast majority would say “Jess Phoenix”, the volcanologist. Patton Oswalt and Wil Wheaton did fundraisers for her. She was featured in glowing profiles in the NYT, LA Times, and Washington Post. She has 65,000 twitter followers.

And tonight she’s running 3rd of 4 Democrats for that nomination, and it really doesn’t look close. 4.8% of the vote.

The Renato Mariotti Hall Of Fame.

This is exactly me. Not from CA, read about her on Twitter, and even dropped $20 towards her campaign. Well, shit.

She raised a ton of cash. But she also had these very idealistic (and probably praiseworthy) notions about not making any traditional TV or radio commercials, etc. And in the end, it appears that a number of folks in her district just didn’t know her and voted for others.

We’ll see. Still a little early.

Looks increasingly likely that it’s going to be Feinstein and De Leon as the top two – both Democrats – on the Senate ballot in November.

Feinstein will win barring something weird. But it’ll be fun to follow.

Geezus fucksticks. Glad I vote absentee.

That’s my take on it right now. A few close calls, but Dems should be represented.

Brock Turner is the white Stanford swimmer who was convicted of 3 counts of felony sexual assault (it’s on videotape) and Judge Persky gave him a sentence with time served and no additional jail time because of Turner being white and rich.

LOL. Strap in.

Also Antonio Villaraigosa, woof.

Currently running third in Los Angeles County.

Where he was, you know, the mayor.

He wasn’t that great a mayor.

This is how I treat every election day.

No shutouts for the Dems! Woot!

Fair enough, but it’s still his home turf, and he got stomped.

Nice story here.

Yeah, not really surprising. When he was mayor, he always gave the impression he was all about himself than his office or this city.
