And within the conservative ranks, the GOP, and a small section of Trump supporters are people who are not asking why their I’m not racist card isn’t working after voting for Obama, as well as people who don’t focus on the birthrates of white women, and don’t think the over-policing just brown people is aok. They’re the group worried about if and when they can retire. Whether the factory they work in will stay open and if it closes what they can do. They’re the group that worries about theirs but isn’t openly hating others. That’s the group the Democrats can appeal to. Not this… other thing.

I am interested in that human culture which is worth preserving. J.S. Bach, Lady Murasaki, Solon’s Laws, the fairy tales of Anansi the Spider, Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, the Declaration of Independence, the great carvings at Persepolis and Babylon, the Daibutsu of Kamakura, the plays of Shakespeare, whatever. I embrace what is good and reject what is bad, regardless of the melanin levels of its creators. Call me ‘aspirationally post racial,’ if you like. A bullshit categorization that has driven humans apart for millennia is still a bullshit categorization.
Speaking more locally, I am overwhelmed with the awareness that much of the greatest American culture – and I absolutely identify myself as an American despite refusing to turn a blind eye to the great crimes my country has historically perpetrated – has been given to us by black people. Considering how whites treated them for hundreds of years, it is a remarkable act of generosity that in return they gave us (among many, many other things) jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, ragtime, and the literary works of Wright, Du Bois, Douglass, Ellison, Morrison, Angelou, et al. And I cannot even conceive of what ‘Americanness’ in a post-20th century sense would mean without such contributions.

It’s a problem to be worked on… but it’s pretty clear that integration is possible and the crime rate will drop again if the effort is made. reference: the US and Canada
If you fail at integration, push people into ghettos, minimize their opportunities then you get long standing social problems that can lead to all sorts of things. Look at how you Americans treat your African-American population, for example.
Do better at integration. Teach people to be less racist. The French should absolutely not ever be your model for how to deal with immigrants.
You said crime was “out of control” and yet crime is still quite substantially lower than it was 10 years previously. Was crime even more “out of control” in 2007?
