Holy shit. Corey Stewart is going to win the VA-Sen Republican nomination.
That is not the result the NRSCC wanted. At all.
How ® votes are in Amherst & Charlotte Counties?
Is he the equivalent of the “legitimate rape shuts all that down” guy or something? In other words, among the wingnuttier GOP candidates?
He just took Amherst Co. I’d say the odd of hearing the word “cuck” on a Virginia Senatorial debate stage just slid past 90%.
This is very much not what any Republican wanted in Viriginia. Not only does it make it difficult or potentially impossible to beat Kaine, it will also kill them across ballots and downballot.

This may shed some light on Stewart:
He’s a pro-Confederacy, alt-righter in all but saying so degrees.
Well, if you won’t stand up for your paedophile colleagues, what will you stand for?
Ah, just what we need in our national government, defenders of the traitorous Confederacy.

Ironically most Confederates would probably shit themselves in horror being in the same camp as these guys.
“So you have a dictator that you worship?”
“I mean, hating the Negro is great and all, but uh… we’re not big on a strong central government.”
It is 100% a bad result for the GOP.
Virginia is underrated as a potential source of House pickups in November. In addition to the 10th, the 2nd, 5th, and even the 7th all look like potential targets, and Corey Stewart’s name at the top of the statewide ballot is likely to drive turnout against him.
(It’s also likely to suppress Republican voter turnout. Stewart is that toxic.)

I’d say this is a big win for Democrats, but we all remember having a toxic top of the ticket worked for R’s in 2016
Hi there! Commonwealth of Virginia here.
We’d like to call your attention to something that happened here in our proud dominion more recently than that.

Hey man, I know. They were a good sign.
I just refuse to buy that a top of the ticket can be so toxic thatbit affects other races until we see some evidence of the GOP coming back from the nuthouse. Because GOP voters seem to have no position that is too sexist, racist, or just plain evil that they will not vote for it.
Edit: put it his way, at this point the GOP could run literal Hitler and I would expect GOP turnout to be about average and he’d get 85% of registered GOP voters.
The 7th is going to be a tough nut. There’s a visceral hatred of Brat around here but she’s really going to have to get her vote out.
Yep, the 7th will be difficult…but that dislike of Brat, the presence of Stewart…if Spanberger can get a few good internal numbers to show the DCCC, they may jump in with both feet. But Garrett’s old seat in the 5th and the 2nd might be better spots.
5th is doable. they elected a (D) about 10 years ago (+ the Garret fiasco). It’s been 47 years since the 7th did.
Yeah, Stewart getting the nod is not a great look for the VA Republicans.
I’d also note that right now, Barbara Comstock (the GOP incumbent for the VA 10th CD) is only getting about 60% of the GOP primary vote. Her one opponent is a guy named Shak Hill – basically 40% of the “moderate” educated Republican voters in Northern Virginia said “hey, Comstock votes along party lines 97% of the time… but when was the last time she said something racist?” This is the new GOP.
