No - this is beyond the pale. The idea that Democrats are in any way aligned with the forces that give you a Pol Pot is absurd and offensive
My lack of civility towards my mother ended up with her stopping a lot of her bullshit.
It wasn’t easy or pretty, but she improved quite a bit.
The term towel-head is not allowed in my house. There are no arguments allowed just an apology, understanding or I show them the door. I don’t care who they are related to or how old they are.
We don’t have a lot of diversity here but the rise of this slur just infuriated me. They might still say it but they will not say it around me.
I think this is the exact reason we need less civility - people only give a shit about changing their ways when they are consistently reminded that they are in the wrong. Everyone in Trump’s administration is complicit in everything the administration does. Everyone who worked on his campaign, who donated to or fund-raised for him, or who voted for him. They don’t deserve respectful silence about their complicity, they need to take responsibility for every bit of the human suffering he’s causing.

Shiva did say a ‘Trump’ of the left. I mean, lots of us fear the right is verging toward fascism, so he’s just flipping the script the other way. I don’t think the left would nominate a ‘Trump’ because I don’t think they’re that nuts, but I also don’t think Shiva’s logic is all that far out to lunch, however indecorously stated.

Things could be bad if a radical from the left gets elected. They could do radical things like not accept bribes from corporations in return for voting for their interests instead of ours.
