All I can think is that Mom – an environmental activist and fairly savvy about how the world works – may have thought “If we’re really gonna go there, I’m keeping receipts.”
But yeah. So many unanswered questions.
Agree, I couldn’t understand that either. I’m not saying it isn’t true —maybe she had a hidden webcam for just this reason — but at the very least it’s curious.
BTW, in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune story on the Ellison accusations, the son who made the facebook post says he is not in possession of the video. Ms. Monahan says she is not ready to comment yet.
Thanksgiving is gonna be REALLY awkward this year.
Bob Goodlatte is retiring this year
Correct. And? (It’s a PVI +13 R seat. Presumably Bob would like his party to hold it; Ben Cline seems like a mainstream southwest Virginia Republican.)
He probably made his contribution to her in bitcoins. That district hasn’t supported a national (D) since Roosevelt & she’s running against Dad’s former Chief of Staff & a 16 yr veteran of the VA Legislature. I think Junior is just sowing some oats.
Primary day!
In CT, maybe the biggest shocker of the night is that 2016 national Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes won her primary (in a solid blue distritct) against a candidate oddly endorsed by both the capital L Left and the US Chamber of Commerce. Good on her. Democrat to watch.
Tina Smith easily takes down Painter for the Senate seat in Minnesota. Keith Ellison cruising, easily winning the MN AG primary race.
This seems accurate, and represents–dare we say it–Dems being smart. Which is weird to say. ;)
It may represent more gradual movement left than I’d like to see, but it should keep the party moving steadily that direction and give progressives a louder voice in the House especially.
Bryce is problematic. Good message, raising lots of money, but his background…woof. Some missed child support payments, some problems with arrests.
OH! And Vermont nominated the first transgender woman ever to stand for a major party for governor. Uphill fight to win the office, but youneverknow.

One thing that impressed me about tonight’s primary results in MN was the voting imbalances by party. Check out these mostly complete results:
Some races were tight, others (like Amy Klobuchar running again for Senate) were blowouts. But check out the Democrat vote totals, and compare them to their Republican counterparts. Why, even Keith Ellison, who was very inconveniently beset by scandal this week, received more than double the votes than the guy running for the GOP spot on the ballot for Attorney General.
Huge DFL turnout today.
Edit: Cripes, look at Ilhan Omar, the young Somali-American go-getter. Okay, the Fighting Fifth district is a pretty safely blue district. But she received nearly EIGHT TIMES the votes as her new GOP challenger!

It very much needed to happen. Rick Wilson pointed out in his book that the Democrats needed to start doing this because the Republicans have been for decades now.
As I’ve said many times, you can’t run a Pelosi in Iowa. She’ll lose every single time. Run those people in your safe districts and don’t make a big fuss about them, then run ex-military liberal women who can field strip an M-16 in the Midwest. Getting a slightly less liberal person in place of a Steve King is a huge win for everyone.
