And even they they might.

I would urge you to read the article before assuming crash positions. It’s pretty hilariously bad. Republicans may retain control of the House… but it’ll be a turn of data that makes that happen, not that sort of Trumpist propaganda.

I’m not sure if the Democrats should use Jimmy Carter or not. But I don’t think it can hurt to remind people that you can be a good (in Jimmy’s case very good) person and still be a president.

Remember when Jimmy Carter had to sell his peanut farm because people thought it would create a conflict of interest with the presidency?

HAHAHA

Remember when it was terribly unseemly that he had this vulgar beer-swilling brother?

I recall the truly unseemly part was when Billy tried to profit off his connection to Jimmy. He was a piker, apparently.

The people that still harbor any ill feeling toward Jimmy Carter (or, perhaps more accurately, would have their vote negatively influenced by Jimmy) probably would never vote Democrat anyhow.

It’s the only way the GOP can continue to win elections.

I was about to post the same link. And yeah, that’s pretty #@$%ed up stuff.

A small anecdote that I’ll share as a small ray of hope on a Monday morning.

My wife occasionally mans a booth at local libraries for gardening. Folks come in and can ask questions about weeds, gardening techniques, blights on their plants, etc. and she and a partner will attempt to answer them or else send off the samples for more investigation.

Occasionally she gets partnered with this crotchety old man who is a bit of a dick. When he sees that he’s going to be with a new person at the booth he’ll change clothes, come back in posing as someone with questions, and then proceed to rip apart the newbie’s answers, their demeanor, their presentation, etc. The guy is older, ex-military (Vietnam-era), and talking to him you assume that his default response to any question is “Get the fuck off my lawn!”

This Saturday my wife saw that she was going to be partnered with this guy and she set off to the clinic grumpily and resigned to her fate.

But since she’s worked with the guy a few times now and since the traffic was pretty light in the library, he opened up a bit to her and he talked politics at her for a while.

Unsurprisingly given his age and overall temperament, he’s a Republican. He didn’t seem overtly racist, but he did share his discomfort with gays and especially trans-gender people using public bathrooms (apparently this happened at the library, prompting the discussion).

BUT, after sharing that he voted for Trump in 2016 because of his hatred towards Hillary, he went on for about a half-hour complaining about Trump and swearing that he’ll vote for whoever the Democrats put against him in 2020. In particular he cited Trump’s withdrawing from the Paris agreement and Zinke’s looting of the National Parks as his primary motivators, though he also disliked pretty much everything Trump has done to date.

So anyway, there’s one down. Just 62,984,827 to go.

I’ll take whatever I can get at this point. Thanks for that.

Damn Boomer uh, wait, you mean he doesn’t like Trump now? Will the AARP pull his membership?

Pie in the sky, maybe, but nonetheless absolutely essential.

Primary day in AK and WY. Yeah, everyone’s super excited.

Although not a Democrat, rooting for Rod Miller to primary Liz Cheney in WY:

So Florida peeps, who are you voting for governor? If you don’t mind saying? I’m almost positive about Gwen Graham. Feel free to sway me.

Unless they’re held in Whiteyville, ArkaWestVirMissiBama.

If I lived in Wyoming, I’d vote for that guy. He sounds more like an Independent candidate than anything else, and it’s obvious he cares a great deal about his state, the environment and the people within it. Too bad there aren’t more candidates like him in more populated states around the country.

Hunter was one of the few Republicans who legit looked safe-ish in CA.

Or, you know…not.
