I get what you’re saying here, but this line of punditry bothers the hell out of me.
The only thing keeping idiots like Nunes evil is their constant, conscious, explicit choices to do evil things. They could turn from the left-hand path any minute of any day simply by choosing to serve their fellow man and the common good instead of prostrating themselves before the twin altars of greed and authoritarianism, but they choose evil every time.
Fuck them. They get nothing.

I think that if he suddenly switched to the side of right, he’d have to pay for his crimes. He keeps doubling down, because to do otherwise would be to face the music.

It’s not like he’s trapped or something. The dude’s clearly evil and is choosing to do this because of that. Trump has just enabled him to be full on open about it, like all the crazy KKK/Nazi wannabes suddenly coming out of the woodwork.

Getting a different flavor of wingnut welfare and not being reelected to Congress are not consequences a moral man fears for not acting in the direct service of evil with intention and malice aforethought.
Fuck him and the rest of the nutjobs. They get nothing.

My statements are not meant as an excuse for Nunes. He’s filth and i want to see him in jail.

That’s one way to give Trump a shot at another term.

I truly hate to agree, but I do. Assuming he runs again. Which I think is a reasonable doubt.

But who to nominate, some boring sandy-haired white guy out of Central Casting? Do we have a good one of those? I’m drawing a blank. It can’t be someone over 65, like at all. Preferably someone in their early 50’s.

Someone like Jason Kander would probably win.
His lack of experience would normally be an issue, but against Trump it’s moot.
Gonna be a crowded field. Probably best to wait and see what the landscape looks like in the fall of 2019 before definitively declaring that any candidate is a poor match for Trump.

Remember Obama before he threw his hat in? Neither do I. That’s what I’m hoping for. Lightning in a bottle. Again.

I’m hoping for that too. I rather like what I’ve seen of Ms Harris, myself, but you know, God Forbid we do that. Some dude in Ohio’s penis might fall off or something.
Eh Warren has a shot. Hillary lost for being too centrist. Public position and private position. Hedge fund speeches. Warren is an unabashed progressive and that’s what we need. Bernie would have beaten Trump.
Yes. Literally tens of millions of Americans do. He was incredibly famous when he declared his candidacy, to the point that it was actually an issue because he’d told Meet The Press he wasn’t going to run for President in 2008, but then changed his mind.
Obama might’ve been the most famous first-time presidential candidate to ever declare for that office before Donald Trump came along.

Well, my experience is obviously different than yours. I had no idea who he was. OTOH I wasn’t a political animal until his first term.
Forgive me? :)

Yeah, that speech. Holy shit.

I had no idea who he was. Nor did most people.
Who keeps track of first term State Senators for the most part?
“You don’t know Ed Markey? Who doesn’t know Ed Markey?”
Damned near everyone, that’s who.

Well I did, but he was also my senator.
