Yes. Literally tens of millions of Americans do. He was incredibly famous when he declared his candidacy, to the point that it was actually an issue because he’d told Meet The Press he wasn’t going to run for President in 2008, but then changed his mind.

Obama might’ve been the most famous first-time presidential candidate to ever declare for that office before Donald Trump came along.
