This is… accurate.
Also, brutal and hopefully effective at motivating some younger voters.
I think everyone wants to look on the bright side, because we need a credible opposition party with a seat at the table, and right now we don’t have one. Not even in the same room as the table.
And, frankly, the Kavanaugh debate is beginning to worry me. I fear it may be the wrong debate at the wrong time that energizes Republicans and is probably unwinnable anyway, since Republicans have the votes pending the FBI investigation. And if it isn’t Kavanaugh, it’ll be some other Federalist Society jackass.
The Supreme Court matters less if Republican-controlled states legislatures aren’t writing and passing bad law and Republican governors aren’t there to sign them and the House is in Democratic hands. The Court isn’t empowered to uphold a law or policy that isn’t passed.
Anyway, I’m still hopeful, but the numbers are softening ever so slightly, and so I worry.

The court can certainly look back at laws that have already passed and try to weaken them. There are several laws in the bluer states I am sure they’d love to get before a court that will vote based on party lines and not law. It’s not just about giving the Red states a way to do what they want, but it’s also a key for them to try and tear apart what the blues have already built.

Yup, good luck on having any effective environmental legislation with a bunch of Federalist flunkies up there.
Well, they’re still gonna have that. They’re vetting the backup to within an inch of his or her (probably her) life. He or she will pass like shit through a goose.

Okay. I just don’t think talking about the Supreme Court being less important because xyz is happening… makes sense. It always matters, extremely so. That’s why the GOP cheated to get the last seat and are acting like they didn’t and for some reason get to try and pretend like they took some sort of morale ground with this one.
Sure. But I didn’t say it doesn’t matter, I said it matters less.
It’s the difference between an 8.0 on the Richter scale and 6.5, maybe. A 6.5 still fucks shit up.

And I am saying, it doesn’t matter less. It’s super important.
Why would the House only issue a subpoena for Trump’s taxes to the IRS. Wouldn’t it be easier, quicker & less confrontational to just get them from the people that prepared them?
In the now unlikely event that Democrats win the House (or even if they do, it’s meaningless anyway so doesn’t matter, because Republicans are all powerful and NOTHING CAN STOP THEM)
Sorry, rant tangent. Anyway, Pence is laying the groundwork that it was because of Chinese meddling.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-04/pence-to-describe-claims-of-chinese-election-meddling-in-speech
Vice President Mike Pence will accuse China of meddling in the 2018 U.S. elections through a campaign of propaganda, spies, tariffs and coercive measures, according to excerpts of a speech he is scheduled to give Thursday.
“Beijing has mobilized covert actors, front groups, and propaganda outlets to shift Americans’ perception of Chinese policies,” Pence will say in a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington, according to prepared remarks. “As a senior career member of our intelligence community recently told me, what the Russians are doing pales in comparison” to China’s actions
Definitely was. And the younger guy asking the big boss the first question: was that the Dattitude guy from the Xfinity commercial?
Having been about 100 km from a 6.5 just a few weeks ago, I can’t tell you how glad I am it wasn’t an 8.0. I’m fine, but that 8.0 would have totally fucked my shit up.
Even positive whataboutism is whataboutism.
These are good numbers for Democrats.

I would love nothing more than for Nunes to crash and burn. They should be plastering that story about the Nunes family farm, that is actually in Iowa now, all over the place. That story was nuts.

I don’t see how the story about Nunes farm matters at all.

Trump’s biggest cheerleader and his family employ illegals. That whole thing is crazy, it is the heart of Steve King’s territory and the whole place seems to be completely reliant on using undocumented labor to function.

Dammit, Democrats. Kavanaugh is a national treasure.
