Her name is Ripley*, not FLamer. Though she is a flamin’ rascal at times!
* a.k.a. Ripley RR Ripplesworth, Ripples, Raspberry Ripple, The Ripper, Ripster, RipRap, etc. etc. Also sometimes ‘get down you little shit!’ as she likes to sit in front of my monitor and frequently gets me killed as a result. She ruined at least 2 ultra-nightmare runs on Doom! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡(= ФェФ=)
Have to say I’m surprised nobody’s got this one yet - if that stubby lil’ tank didn’t give it away I’m not sure two more will! I always thought the sprite work in this was quite recognisable and cute - what with the chibi military vehicles and so on.
Full reveal tomorrow I suppose - maybe this didn’t get as much airtime worldwide as I thought? Kinda sad if so…

Z by the Bitmap Brothers? (this longer guess with dev brought to you by the 5 letter requirement)
It is Z by the Bitmap Brothers!

For those interested in giving it a go - there’s an open source remake of it called The Zod Engine that’s worth checking out. The launcher is a bit naff/confusing, though, as it’s geared more for MP than SP - so be prepared for some fiddling (the SP campaign missions are all playable, though).
I recognized it, but I’ve had my share of correct guesses recently. ;)
Okay, here we go. I’m … not going to do the animated gif thing with incorrect guesses. Sorry about that. This should go quickly.
Shadow Tactics.
I grabbed the Castles manual a couple of days ago (if you want to find manuals for some old games painlessly, the Steam store page of the ones they sell there is a very nice source — it’s often listed on the right under “Read documentation”), and I have read it all very quickly. Beautiful little manual that was. I am really looking forward to trying the game.
Oh, people shouldn’t feel any pressure to do that. I just did it because I thought it was fun and didn’t want @Scotch_Lufkin to get all the glory. Plus I probably owed him the [inevitable] Orc Massage gif.
It also ticked off something I’d been meaning to do for ages; evaluate video editing suites - Corel VideoStudio won out in the end.
But I’m verrrrryyy whimsical in nature so who knows if I’d even bother in future.
@Left_Empty I’m happy you got a kick out of that gif. Didn’t look like a ‘me’ game though - not enough action. Or tigirls.
Looking for a gif for that game was… interesting. I had no idea.
Neither of those! Holy crap, the art for Battle Brothers is kind of adorably angry.
This (Battle Brothers) is one of those games I dismissed early on when others were raving about it because at a glance it didn’t do anything for me visually (another example of this is the wonderful Fel Seal SRPG), but like Fel Seal once I started playing it I realized it was incredibly charming and grew to not just appreciate, but adore, the art.
Ha, yes. I figured it’d be easy, since the game is recent. But I adore the game so much I couldn’t help myself. I went with an early game screen so there wouldn’t be any spoilers. I wonder if I’d zoomed the camera closer if it would’ve been a harder guess (or not chosen such a standard “Western” shot; but that’s half the fun).
I just beat the game this weekend, and it immediately landed itself among some of my favorite modern games. I can’t wait to see what WolfEye does next.
I actually wanted to pick this up but the real-time looking combat looked like it might frustrate me. I had hoped it was turn-based when I first saw it, though I’ll also admit I have done zero post-launch/review research, so I haven’t written it off or anything. I’m glad to know at least one person that really liked it, that’s a good start.
Oh for fox sake, more gifs?! I’ll post something tomorrooooooow.
Weirdly, that gif is bothering me no end. Why didn’t you/they at least let her finish the sentence???
