That’s definitely true, but this kind of conversion of politics into a spectator sport is a big part of why those people are voting for those terrible candidates.

Well, in my state, it’s still early, but at this point in the night, everyone I wanted to win is winning by pretty wide margins. I hope that sticks.

I understand, but I think the extreme polarisation we see is more due to prolonged exposure to propaganda in FOX / talkback radio than politics-as-sports sites like 538 who cater to a limited number of people who are likely to spend their time obsessing about numbers no matter the state of democracy.
Well, at least this isn’t looking like 2010 or 1994, thank God.
I was really hoping Ryan would pull it out in OH.

He had a tough row to hoe, going up against superstar candidate JD Vance.

One silver lining of DeSantis doing well in Florida is that it might encourage him to challenge Trump for the nomination.

Don’t wish on a monkey’s paw.
Ugh, that sycophant. Then again, if they let Ted Cruz in I suppose they let anyone in.
I’ve seen enough. We should sell Florida back to Spain.

I remember yelling at him to take a deal back in 2017 over the Bathroom bill, he was holding it up to push for more.
I respected his stand and his reasoning, even though I felt he couldn’t win and could lose by doing so. Definitely respected his honesty and openness in reasoning, and he’s been very clear about that over the years- he’ll be a good Rep for 2 years until he gets gerrymandered out (I expect the new NC Supreme Court to allow a hyper-gerrymander)
Heh, I don’t think Spain would take it back! Maybe if we paid them to take it off our hands. :-)
Claire McCaskill had good observation. Assuming Georgia is run off, it is possible that if the D have 50 seats and the R 49. She thinks a lot of Republicans will stay home rather than vote for Walker.

Yup. Runoff heavily favors dems. At least it has in the past for GA
