Very fair, thanks for the reminder. Sorry, m’dude.

Pissed off this morning that J.D. Fucking Vance is going to be my senator. I mean, it’s Ohio, so I should have known better, but I held out hope that the fact that Vance is such an obvious tool and his ads focused only on scare tactics (Crime! Inflation! Corrupting Your Kids!) and not on any actual plan he had for Ohio would expose him as the fraud he is (hell, his vaunted opioid fighting charity turned out to be a front for funneling money into his own campaign) and cost him the race. Nope. Fuck.

On the bright side, fuck off Steve Chabot! Your three decade run of mooching off your congressional seat while doing fuck-all for Ohio is over…at least for 2 years until the Ohio SC gerrymanders all the districts again.

I’m hopeful this morning that Dems can maintain the 50/50 in the Senate and only lose the House by a couple of seats (which given the GOP infighting means no consensus for the majority party on anything for the next session). The Red Wave turned out to be more of a Red Leaky Faucet, and I LOVE that it has Trump screaming and other prominent GOP “leaders” like Graham and Cruz walking back their bold predictions and trying to manage expectations.

As for DeSantis, he is very dangerous and should be taken seriously. If Trump choked on a chicken wing tomorrow, the GOP would run DeSantis pretty much unopposed in their primary for 2024, and they would all happily fall in line behind him including the vast majority of Trump voters. The best we can hope for is that Trump sticks around (a sentence I never thought I would type!) and announces his candidacy for 2024, setting up a GOP primary armageddon where Trump and DeSantis go after one another with such fury that their supporters end up hating each other as much as they hate Democrats, and the resulting chaos and infighting help sweep Biden back into office.

I woke up to Mike Lee. Not unsurprising, but still depressing! Let me know if you find a good support group.

I hope all the NPR-types that boosted JD Vance at the start of his career have learned their lesson, before the next Reasonable Conservative grifter appears.

Dr. Oz lost!

The race that has me watching for updates is the Nevada Senate - last update I saw it did not look great for the Dems, which puts the Senate at risk. If we can win that, then we are in good shape on the Senate. If we lose it, we still have a path but that requires Warnock to win his runoff. I think we have a good shot in the runoff but it’s going to be long and painful month if so.

NYT has plenty of blue-tinted outstanding votes and Warnock should squeak it out if their estimates are correct

Hobbs only running at +4 in Maricopa county seems not good. Kelly is almost at +8 in Maricopa.

I was on a total news blackout last night, so I am reasonably pleased with how the results are turning out. Yeah, it could be better, but it coulda been a lot worse.

One of the good results from the election is that I’m not going to be subjected to an endless stream of ads telling me that Jennifer Wexton is going to prosecute parents and open up sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants. Oh, and that Abagail Spanberger is a self-serving corrupt politician that votes with Pelosi 100% of the time.

Hopefully we can all agree that Arizona is the worst at counting votes. Still only 69% counted the next day.

This pleases me, but still so close.

Lake was already making rumblings about the validity of the results last night from the sounds of it. I really wish my family would agree to move somewhere else.

Lake was straight up saying a month ago that if she didn’t win she wasn’t going to accept the results.

Wow, that’s far closer than the NYT predictions! Funny how their text reads:

As a rule, when our estimated margin is steady in the presence of new vote data, our forecast is more trustworthy.

So I guess your forceast kinda sucks!

I haven’t been following this one at all (so maybe it was never a serious worry), but this is good news from my neighbors to the north:

That’s one less douchenozzle fuckwad to clutter up the headlines.

I still don’t understand how on Earth 48-49% of people voted for a traitorous, Turkish, fake doctor who doesn’t even live in their state. I’m thrilled Fetterman won, but kinda lost faith in Pennsylvanians.

We have a lot of Kentucky in the middle and southwest of the State. I’ve been there. I grew up not far from there. We also do have a lot of wealthy people. Add it up.

Fortunately we also have a relatively high education level and some big ass cities with a lot of people who don’t buy into the Snake Oil.

I’ll also point out that Fetterman was visiting everywhere during this campaign. He went to some pretty deep red counties in addition to the places where the people are. He made sure to go find folks to vote for him, which is what D’s need to do more of in Statewide races like Senate.

Because Fox News tells them every night that Democrats are destroying the country.

No matter how hard I F5 ballot trax for Nevada still has my ballot being received and accepted for processing a week ago with no other updates since. So either it’s behind or my vote for Cortez Masto is still to be counted. I am really hoping there’s a lot of democratic mail in vote left to count.

Looks like the barrage of “Sisolak is corrupt!” ads worked and we’re likely fucked at the state level.
