FWIW, I’m in the same boat. Ballot accepted for processing on Nov 2, no news since.
Another Dem Michigan pickup.
Wait, you guys have BallotTrax that tells you your vote was counted or something? Mine has only ever said my vote was received by my county’s elections office. I always assumed that if there were a problem they’d get hold of me, because that’s what they’re supposed to do.

It was a shame that Jeff Jackson didn’t make it through the primary. He seemed a bit like Fetterman getting out of the metro areas and had a good social media presence. At least he won the new congressional district.
I’ve grown quite impatient with the Boebert reporting. No updates for 2 hours!
So, re: the Senate-- Fetterman is a D pick up, and assuming Nevada’s GOP nominee wins that’s an R pick up. That leaves AZ (which fingers crossed stays blue) and whatever happens in Georgia? We may well keep the Senate and maybe even get to 51?

I honestly don’t know if it reports more than that in the first place but my recollection from the last election is that it did indicate the vote had been counted.
That’s it. We might still win in Nevada, which means Warnock would be the 51st.

I’ve been working professionally on campaigns, both partisan and nonpartisan, for 30 years and I never saw a midterm like this.
Here are some things I am thinking about today:
- Never make fun of a stroke victim in a midterm where the majority of the electorate are older people who all have a stroke story
- When the issue of abortion is centered in racial equity the power for choice is irresistable. White choice leaders had to run to catch up to the parade in MI
- Ranked Choice Voting in its debut in Alaska will decide a US Senate race. And in ME it will decide the ME-02 race. I was skeptical of this reform initially but I think this structural reform eliminates the threat of third party candidates denying Democrats getting to 50% +1
- After all the money spent and work put in the US Senate may have the same partisan split if Warnock wins the runoff
- I was relieved that we saw little organized voter intimidation / threats of violence at the polls on Election Day
- Democrats need to have a progressive response/message on crime and lean into that to inoculate against ‘soft on crime’ attacks we know the GOP will launch against every Democratic candidate of color that is a viable candidate. How about talking about prosecuting white collar criminals?
And I said it upthread that North Carolina is the next Georgia. Chuck should have supported Cheri Beasley more.
This is the sort of thing you get in Florida. No email, but you can check status.
“But they’re not violent thugs!”
Rumor - purely - that i’m seeing is the outstanding vote in the Boebert race is from Pueblo, which is a blue area. Fingers crossed

The other interesting thing that I am seeing in the Catalist and TargetSmart early vote data is that vote share for white voters that voted absentee/voted early increased slightly from 2018 to 2022. So those younger and non-white voters that made the difference yesterday, a lot of them came out on Election Day which was unexpected.
Last thought, it was reported upthread that all the Republicans that had some combination of the DSCC/DGA/Dem SuperPACs elevate them in their primaries lost last night. And so I assume the folks behind shoveling $53 million into GPO primaries conclude that is a winning strategy. Setting aside whether they can prove causation that those dollars got the MAGA folks across the finish line in those primaries, those are dollars that could have helped Mandela Barnes and Cheri Beasley pick up either the WI or NC US Senate seats.
I think the thing Fetterman got right was that he immediately defined his opponent as a fraud and a carpetbagger, and repeated it at every turn, and the definition stuck because it had the virtue of being true. Something more Dems need to do when they have a similar opportunity.

Yes. I also admire John in that he held firm that he would contend for white working class voters without pandering to white supremacy. He was under enormous pressure as the race narrowed and he stuck to his values and ran a campaign that he could be proud of. The man showed a lot of grit taking the debate stage. He will fight for PA in the US Senate.
Yeah, I agree in all respects. It’s hard not to like the guy, he seems like a straight shooter with a good grounding in decency.

Elaine Luria, who lost her re-elect in VA - 02, is another person that I tremendously admire and I am sad that she lost. VA-02 was another district where the Dems tried to elevate a MAGA Republican during the primary and failed.
The thing that doesn’t get enough attention is that there are a LOT of people in public office that are admirable. They frequently have to chose from a buffet of shit sandwiches on a regular basis when it comes to decisions they need to make. Which is demoralizing but that’s politics. I wish we heard more about them and their devotion to public service.
More Dems should run their campaigns like Fetterman, and then once in office, be a little more like Fetterman was when he was Lt. Governor and will undoubtedly be as a senator (an outspoken, take-no-shit champion of the working class and underserved/represented people of Pennsylvania).
Plus, how can you NOT vote for anyone with this on their campaign site?
