I live in Ohio too and this state has gone full cult of stupids. I have co-workers who’re gurgling troglodytes when it comes to politics, mouthing the latest Q theory and other nonsense. Read the comments on FB for any local media and sit back appalled at the tsunamis of vile hatred and ignorance these people pour across the internets.

Well. I’m with you hardy New Englanders, although I’d throw in CT, and RI is so small who cares. (This is from a person who’s twice spent 9 days in Providence playing a wargame). But I suppose there is a difference between North East and New England

Also, ME-2 is definitely a swing district.

I will grant you RI, begrudgingly. :)

What really cracked me up was a site listing like best restaurants in the Northeast and them mentioning Buffalo. Which, sure, maybe technically, but that’s not the Northeast :)

Add Puerto Rico as a state with 5 house seats.

I wonder if some people who bought into that bologna last time are now feeling like patsies.

MSNBC is running a press conference from Clark County officials on the counting process going forward. FYI.

Does it involve sloths, DMV workers, or both?

Other than reversing Tim Ryan and Fetterman, I’m doing ok.
I still have a chance with all my other predictions.

Heh. I think they can accept late arriving mail ballots through Saturday, so they’re kind of stuck and will be counting every day.

What I got from it is that there are a ‘considerable’ number (not specified) of ballots still being collected from drop boxes and sent in to get counted. He said there were 15k such ballots delivered for counting today, didn’t say how many more. Will provide updates every day as ballots are delivered from counting and then counted.

MSNBC are saying the Dems believe that if there are 100k ballots still outstanding, they like their position, but if there are 70k or fewer, not so much. But nobody seems to know the answer.

My condolences that you live in Ohio*. Has it become like it has due to all those old union manufacturing jobs drying up and the made-redundant people reaching for easy scapegoats (immigrants/racial, religious and sexual minorities etc.) instead of directing their ire at the corporate classes that made the decisions?

*In which I spent 3 academic years as a 3rd, 4th and 5th grader (in Cincinnati, where my late dad was working on his Ph.D. at UC), then we moved for a year to the garden spot that is Terre Haute, Indiana, which thank God was just for a year. I think the psychological damage would have been too great if I’d spent any of my teens there.

The number of seats is fixed at 435. If DC gets a new seat, some other state will be forced to lose a seat.

I’m guessing you also watched that scene in Zootopia at some point. ;-)

Yeah, I’d forgotten about the arbitrary fixing which they passed into law at some point. The law could be changed, right? It never became a Constitutional Amendment, did it? Obviously it would be best to keep an uneven number, though.

And welcome back, BTW!

In fairness, Jersey is fine… I just mainly give them shit on principle.

The bill that passed the House increases the total number of House members to 436, to accommodate DC’s new member.

Boebert vote count is creeping back into striking range. I am nervous.

For some reason I am putting my entire mental well being on her losing. And I don’t live in Colorado.

I think Boebert is going to pull it out

Booo, hiss.

And @BiggerBoat , just remember the words of the “Serentity Prayer.” Or, as an alternative, you could go full Frank Costanza.

That just looks like a bunch of people listening respectfully to the national anthem.
