Untitled Goose Game?
I had to google “whimsical English arse-slapping adventure game” to find the name of Thank Goodness You’re Here!, but I’m fairly sure it’s this?
Aye, tha’s spot on lad.
Played this over the weekend, and it’s great - in terms of gameplay, it’s very simple, mainly wandering about to find the simple action you need to perform to move things along. But the attraction is the comedy - think Monty Python + Vic & Bob + Viz magazine - and the details you spot while you wander around, along with some great slapstick set-pieces. It’s about 3 hours long so doesn’t overstay its welcome. If you like the style of humour you’ll love it, if you don’t then I wouldn’t bother.
Also, Matt Berry does some of the voice work. And it has the best trailer in recent memory:

OTOH, that does look fascinating.
I’ve not actually played it. I recently upgraded to the new Steam Family Beta thingy, which means my nephew now has better access to my 1747 Steam games, and I get to play his 13, one of which is this! I thought it might be good for my own kid, as I wanted her to try a god game of some form, but have yet to try it and see how fiddly it is. I don’t know how it came to be a game he chose or is popular with the kids, maybe it’s in a meme or something? :)
I get the impression it’s one of these infi-early access games. I don’t think it’ll ever not be, but I’ve done no research to find out if that’s true.
