3D graphics go wacky - help?

I don’t know how to describe it any better. I had this with GTA:SA - it’s like random polygons would start appearing; I’m assuming it’s some form of corruption. In GTA:SA alt-tabbing would fix it.

I just loaded up Dawn of War again and within a minute of the tutorial starting I started having flickering random polygons appearing everywhere.

Thief: Deadly Shadows exhibits the same behaivor.

These are three games with three different renderers, so I’m forced to conclude it’s my video card. Can anyone give me any troubleshooting advice?

Make sure the video card isn’t overheating (and if you’re overclocking; don’t).

Then try different drivers.

That’s exactly what happens when your card overheats, seen it many times. Sparkles, then polygons start tearing. It’s sorta cool, actually.

If you’re not overclocking, you might have a fan that’s failed, or it’s full of dust. Or it’s just too hot in your computer room.

Yeah, that sounds like what happened when my fan died during my Half-life 2 play.

Thanks - I’ll open up the PC tomorrow and see how the fan on the video card looks. Once done, I’ll report back here.
