3x3: black and white after 1980

That’s what it was! I knew I had seen something in black & white this year that worked beautifully in the medium, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was.

This is my pick, too.

I kind of enjoyed this silly movie about a crazy barber or something.

This movie comes just before the time window of 1980 but qualifies conceptually so I thought I would give an honorable mention to Young Frankenstein.

Escape From Tomorrow.

Black and White sapped Disneyland/world of its Disney-ness and added a sinister tone. Couldn’t have been done without the B&W.

Good German would have been another, not a great movie, but from the Black and White old WB logo to the wartorn bombed out ruins of the city, it needed to be in black and white.
