I talked to someone, who watched the movie (because she is into sado-masochism), she read the books, wasn’t impressed, and told me that the movie was even worse, totally boring. They do not show anything, cut away when things are happening, totally whitewashed … But the marketing of the movie seems to do the job exceptionally well. Even my baker (female) talked to her colleague, that she wants to see the movie. And my baker is a very ordinary, middle-aged woman.
We are all lemmings, when even people on this informed forum go to see a movie, and they admit in advance that they think it will be a bad movie, even if these people go to watch it…
Take the money and run, that’s the way most movies are made …
Some us have spouses that go to superhero movies with us without complaint, so in return we go and see movies she wants to see without complaint. I imagine there’s a lot of that with this movie.
I actually envy guys in that situation. My “payback” for dragging the lady-pal along to Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor 1 is weird arthouse shit that makes me sad (Dancer in the Dark) or supremely uncomfortable (Drawing Restraint 9. A bit of poorly written literal torture porn (lol) sounds positively delightful in comparison!

That said, I couldn’t get past the first 4 minutes. When Steel asks Grey why people don’t like him, and he replies “because they know me” I guffawed and she threw me out of the room.

lol! I wish that I could enjoy that my wife enjoyed the books! But she hated them. Well, the first one anyway. She could not get even a quarter the way through it. Thankfully she tried to read it on our honeymoon, so we had other reasons to…um…enjoy our trip.
Probably with watching the guy selling the drinks and popcorn loading crate after crate of Fifty Shades of Grey-themed wine into the refridgerator underneath a big poster for the movie being the only distraction, since a bus with one of those “curious?” ads has broken down directly in front of the glass doors of the cinema, blocking any view outside.
I’m not proud. But I was able to procure an .mp4. Hardcoded Chinese subtitles.
Don’t you work in the games industry? I’m not sure you want to run around on a games forum announcing that you’re stealing movies. :(
