A New Bond Game Coming: Maybe they'll get Timothy Dalton's likeness

007 to return in a new video game.

Having picked up the license to make games in the Bond universe back in 2006, Activision has been slow to make use of everyone’s favorite British superspy. However, company boss Bobby Kotick has let word slip that a new Bond game is currently under development. Kotick was quick to criticize EA’s past efforts. EA got the Bond license following the glory of Rare’s GoldenEye, but produced rather lackluster titles like Nightfire, Rogue Agent, From Russia With Love, and more. “It suffered a lot because it wasn’t a focal point of Electronic Arts’ efforts over the past five years and they have such a broad portfolio of franchises that this one didn’t get the attention it deserved,” Kottick remarked.

Contrary to past efforts, Kottick expressed his confidence in Activision’s ability to return the Bond franchise to form. “We have our best development studios working on the product, we have a second team working on another Bond product and we’re putting great resources against it,” Kottick said. “Bond is one of the great videogame franchises of all time and that really was a result of GoldenEye. I think the key to re-energising the Bond franchise is going to be ultimately the highest possible game quality.”

Smart words. GoldenEye is definitely the benchmark with which the subsequent games have been measured, and I fear matching Rare’s original effort is an almost unconquerable goal. Activision is going to have to work hard for this one; hopefully that newly-acquired talent can help.

I want a 007 Racing remake, plz.

On a much more serious note, I thought Everything or Nothing was decent, which Ars convenantly forgot in this article.

A Eurogamer article from a few days ago indicated that Daniel Craig was involved in a new 007 game, despite not wanting to be, because most of the recent Bond games were shit.

I find it hard to believe that Daniel Craig would care so much has long as he was getting a fat check in the mail.

I hear they promised him a nut whipping as a bonus.

Only after he gets to suck some lovely lady’s fingers first.

Whoa! Didn’t see that one coming.

Except he feels bad about stealing cars in GTA. Pffffffft.

Everything or Nothing was a really good game I thought.

I totally agree. But my heart belongs to Goldeneye.
