Yes, please. Spin this ridiculous Dickwolves debate off to some other thread if people want to keep beating the dead horse.

I liked the one with “Go forth, and rape no more”. I thought that was one of their best lines ever.

Luckily I don’t have to pick, since I don’t need to derogate feminists on a regular basis.

Well you must be blind and deaf then, there are plenty of loo-loo balls out there claiming to be feminists. The last one I dealt with was a group of supposed feminists wanting to remove the presumption of innocence when it came to rape accusations. So I’ll call them whatever derogatory thing I want and be perfectly at peace with myself.

See, at least Buceph is owning up to being an asshole!

Yeah. Such an asshole move to support the basic tenets of a free society.

No, it’s an asshole move to utterly dismiss all feminists because you have decided that this one time you came across a couple you disagreed with and didn’t like.

If people seriously wonder why the women on this board don’t feel comfortable posting to a lot of things like this? Shit like this is why.

I’ve always liked the Armadeaddon series and am surprised that AFAIK no one has posted it in the thread:

The basic premise of Gabe & Tycho going to the mall to buy Dead Rising and having to fight Zombies was very solid. But I like it most because of the way Gabe & Tycho bring in so many of their different characters in. It’s got Frank, Annarchy, Annarchy’s boyfriend, Fruit Fucker, that Apple guy whose name I don’t know, and even Jim who AFAIK hadn’t been seen in five years.

I especially like this one from that series:

Where did I utterly dismiss all feminists? I dismissed “radical” feminists, or do you believe female oppression is in such a state that we need radicalism. And then I made a joke comparing the “loo-loo ball” feminists to the “extremist” and “fundamentalist” parts of religions when we all know they’re just plain crazy and the word that comes after is irrelevant. Then I went on and called them “supposed feminists.” Notice the “supposed?”

At every stage I made sure to append a word to the feminist so it would be clear with whom my derision lies.

Why did I not just drop the “feminist” after those words? First off, does anyone drop them when they refer to fundamentalist and extremist muslims, or christians?

And if feminists seriously wonder why other women (and men in general) are so hesitant to call themselves feminists or support feminism? Shit like this is why.

Pump the brakes there

I know there are quite a few exceptions. But do you really think that being pro-feminism is the average stance of the average male? I think you’re more likely to find them making a joke about kitchens or whether the feminist was hot.

If equal rights between men and women isn’t a majority opinion in this country, then we aren’t supporting the basic tenets of a free society, and radicalism is probably necessary.

I think the one of the few places you’ll find unequal rights is in paternity leave and father’s rights to their children.

Apart from that a lot of the issues are cultural, not legal and I don’t think radicalism will do anything to change that. I think there needs to be a change on a number of fronts and the media needs to be at the forefront of that. It shouldn’t show women as shoe obsessed bitches, but neither should it show teenage boys as ignorant sex obsessed predators. Magazines need to stop showing women as anorexic supermodels and they need to stop presenting the prototypical man as the alpha-asshole. Sports channels (in English speaking Europe at least) need to stop hiring women as eye-candy like a “lads mag” and start firing the idiots who say that women referees don’t know the offside rule. (Half of that happened in the past two weeks, google for Andy Gray if you want to know more.) Men need to have just as much support as women when it comes to spousal and sexual abuse(and I admit women are probably more often the victims of it) if it’s ever going to become less of a stigma in society. When corporate women are portrayed as bitches and stay at home dads are shown as pussies, it has equal effect and men’s rights as women’s rights, as part of the very same thing.

I think broadly, women have the same entitlements and rights in society. I think culture will come along as we progress. I think the divisive nature of feminism, which was needed during the 50’s to 70’s, and which went hand in hand with sexual liberation, needs to change to become inclusive of men on an egalitarian front. I think when men are told and I’m paraphrasing along the lines of the intent of a couple of women I’ve met “Men need to fight on their own for those things as they have nothing to do with women and feminism” that some feminists lose sight of a situation that, in fact, many men are extremely uncomfortable with, and perpetuate stereotypes and negative situations for everyone, and it only serves to shoot feminism in the foot.

Wonderful. Go make a feminism thread or something because you are absolutely driving this one into the ground.

Yeah, we should lay off the argument before someone invokes Foucault and I have to start getting all philosophical in here.

STOP BEING HYSTERICAL YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THIS RATIONALLY JUST LET ME EXPLAIN WHY YOU’RE WRONG.

Wait, what?

Can someone explain to me, preferably in small words, why what Buceph posted is dismissive or insulting? It seems pretty reasonable to me.
