Hey, I actually like the McGriddle, its tasty. I like the combination of sweetness plus your standard breakfast stuff.
I’ll admit it doesn’t hold a candle to any ma and pop sit down breakfast joint, but its nice and filling drive thru fare.
“Sell the sausage until its dinger goes off” needs to become a common phrase.
As someone who frequently criticizes McDonald’s substandard burger ingredients, I’ll say that in this instance, the criticism is unwarranted. It’s not an industrial anything–the folded egg squares are actually made on site from fresh eggs. Well, they probably came from a factory farm, but so do most of the eggs at the grocery store. Anyway, they crack a whole bunch of them into a big container, beat them, and pour it out on the flattop. Instead of scrambling them up, they let it cook through, and then cut and fold. So it’s more like an omelette than scrambled eggs.
Now, their sausage patties… I can’t vouch for those. Karen pointed out to me once that they sell a sausage McMuffin for $1, but an egg McMuffin costs $3. Her observation: “When a sausage patty costs three time less than an egg, that’s a good time to be suspicious.”

I wasn’t explaining the obvious joke, I was doing the “and why I like it” part of the thread. You know, the actual thread topic? :)

What are you talking about? This is the thread where we discuss how Gabe and Tycho are the biggest assholes on the internet.

No, I’m pretty sure goatse is bigger.
Liquid. They show up in a milk carton. That’s also what the scrambled eggs are made of. The only difference is that the folded eggs have a little mold that you put them in that gives you six exactly spatula wide strips of egg material that you eventually learn to fold twice in your sleep, whereas the scrambled ones are made in a big square mold, pretty much the same way you make scrambled eggs when they don’t come out of a carton. If you want a whole egg that actually came out of a shell these days from McDonald’s, you have to order the poached ones, unless they’ve come up with a way to make those through the magic of industry too. I tend to just skip the eggs entirely, but I also kind of don’t like eggs very much to begin with.
Err… I came all ready to post a comparison comic (http://www.darklegacycomics.com/275.html) for the whole Dickwolves thing, and here folks are going off on McDonald’s breakfast food. Worse yet, you all seem to be fans of something other than the Egg McMuffin (btw, for whoever asked, poached eggs go in the McMuffins… though they’re somewhere between poached and fried really). Heathens, the whole damn lot of you!

Not as funny and WAY too many panels.
Is the joke that they could do the exact same joke as PA?
Noooo the joke is that they’re treating an in-game character as if they are in real life but omg I can’t type cuz I’m laughing too hard just try harder to get it and you’ll laugh!!!
The joke is that it explains the joke?

Seriously. If that strip illustrates anything, it’s that the PA guys are much better writers.

Yes. It’s like the Puzzle Quest comparison where Penny Arcade and Ctrl Alt Del did the same joke (roughly - heroic fantasy setup => chin tapping puzzle grid). CAD took like 19 panels to do what PA did in 3, better.
Kiko’s distant, internal expression in the final panel. He’s running simulations.
To spare everyone else from having to search for them: here’s CAD, here’s PA.
The Bewildered panel is my favorite, personally. The strip as a whole weirdly makes me want to go play a miniatures game.
I knew it was really fashionable to hate CAD, so I read it regularly and enjoyed it. It was often fairly funny.
Except for the Chef Brian strips. Chef Brian’s entire joke is that’s random nonsense. That’s funny once, maybe.
And you know, the Wintereenmass strips kind of sucked too. I started making a point of just skipping any strip the moment I saw that stupid crown on Ethan’s head.
Then I realized any strip where Ethan is featured prominently usually sucked. Often, Ethan strips are sort of like Chef Brian: he does something random or totally illogical, and we’re supposed to think it’s funny just because it’s random or illogical, not because there’s anything funny about it.
The other regular characters weren’t like that. They’re… wait, they were just boring.
So, CAD was kind of funny when it did a game strip where none of the regular characters appeared. Of course, usually the jokes were just passable. As this PA to CAD comparison demonstrates, someone else could take the same basic concept and do something better.
So why exactly, again, was I checking the strip regularly?
Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
