Heavens to Betsy, it’s fucking enormous.
Currently, 20 minutes prior to open of B&N, there are two dudes who match the description of Martin fans. And me. I am in the car while they are standing at the door, I assume, for the eventual mad rush to get the limited number of copies.
Edit: just got an email with a 40% off coupons. I wonder if I can hold up my iPhone and show it to them.

You should be able to, most places will honor them.
Audible has the audiobook version with Roy narrating… it’s 49 hours long!
I forgot to download it before leaving for work today and here I am with a good hour and a half of travel-time between meetings today. Seven Hells what a fool I am!
Oh man. Trollface GRRM keeps delivering in this book.
My buddy and I decided to skip the signing, too hot.
I have no plans to read the book anytime this decade, anyway. The biggest loss will be that I won’t be able to visit this thread anymore.
I got it. Woo! Now, I must leave this thread until the book is done.
I should’ve taken today off, but I likely won’t be able to read this until the weekend.
I grabbed it off iTunes last night at 1am and went to sleep. All the downloads crapped out when I woke up this morning but was able to redownload everything. The audiobook comes as 6 200mb files and when played through iTunes are broken up in 30 min sections. It’s kinda annoying that they don’t break it up in chapters. So far I’m 1 chapter in and I’m digging it so far. My only complaint is that roy’s female voices are kinda bad.
This was my first purchase off iTunes and was surprised at how quick it was. Is that cloud thing setup now with iTunes so I can download the book again at anytime? Or do I need to figure out how to backup iTunes purchases.
For whatever reason, the coupon just mirrored the sale price in the store. 30% off and 40% for members. They know I am a member so why bother sending a virtual coupon?
Anyways, I HAVE IT!!! Now, with my slow reading, I will be done in a couple months and you will have read it three times Athryn!! (That is the last of the Athryn reading jokes. I swear it.)
Dammit: It is 45% off online with free shipping. If only I was proactive.

Boy does Roy sound a lot older than the Storm of Swords recording I just finished a week ago. Still does a great job, though. I am also lamenting the fact that there are not chapter breaks like there were in the last Rothfuss book. That was very easy to switch between reading/listening. This one is far more difficult.

For those of you with the iBooks or Kindle version: is there any multimedia in the book (specifically I mean maps), or is it all text?
EDIT: And how do they look?

Kindle version has maps, but it’s a bit hard to read on the kindle screen. They’re also disappointingly kind of low-res, so zooming on the iphone/ipad doesn’t look great either.

Any idea where I can get such a coupon? It’s a lot less expensive online, but My wife would really like to pick it up before a plane trip tomorrow.
Apparently the Burlington MA signing already has lines out and around the corner.
I’m still at the office. I don’t think I’m getting a book signed tonight!
Turns out, the coupon reflected the exact same discount found In the store. 30% off and 40% for members. No idea why they send you a link to a coupon.

Thanks; unbeknowngst to me we actually have a member card, and I just picked up the book with the 40% off discount. Now, how much of the prequel books can I reread before my wife finishes aDwD?

Improper use of the word prequel, sorry. I’m just talking about the first four books in the series.
Oh, lol, I thought you meant the Dunk and Egg stories, but you said novels. I don’t know where my brain is today. Westeros, I guess.
I didn’t get in line until about 4:45, but I was out of there by 8:30. There were maybe 300 people in front of me. By 6:00 though the line was crazy, and there were people still buying books and getting in line when I left. I expect GRRM is still signing as I write this.
