Gifted article from WP. A 16 year old in Florida (parentless} is told that she’s not mature enough to make her own decision about abortion but is apparently mature enough to have and raise a baby on her own.

The cruelty is the objective.
The baby is her fair punishment for being young and sexy.
It’s blessing from God given to an unready child!
Nice.
(although IIRC that song referred to an incident on a different Lake Geneva, right?)
I’m glad someone appreciated that! And yeah, the lake in the song is in Switzerland.
Well, who could forget that guitar riff. In my teens you couldn’t escape it if you turned on a radio. :-)
Just remember, if you’re playing the riff: don’t play it with a pick. Pluck both strings at the same time with your fingers.
Apologies, i should have publicly stated that you won the Intarwebs that day!
Oh! Sorry. I meant that genuinely and not in any sort of passive-aggressive manner. It really made me giggle, but I know how those little asides can get lost, so I was happy to learn someone else found it funny as well.
I found it a nice deep cut. I just neglected to say so :)

Texas doesn’t give a shit about children. Exhibit #685426
What a totally inevitable development; multiple threads it could go in.

Rich people will always have options.
Hmm, the older woman described in the story is a Texas native but per the story lives in New York, so I’m not clear why she’s using the service, except perhaps because she’s doing it on a visit to Texas (apparently trying to keep the pregnancy/abortion secret from her husband-- they do mention that data point).

This is likely a speed bump, as the Michigan Supreme Court has a majority of Democrats, but it is some seriously fucked up shit. In Michigan the language of the proposed statute must fit on the petition voters sign. And it can be a challenge to fit it all in and include all the necessary signatory space, space for a notary to sign, etc.
So formatting can be tough. And that is what the two GOP members of the board are objecting to.
