Acclaimed boardgame Through the Ages is more useless than ever

I’ve resigned myself to never getting better at this game. I’ve played over 60 single player games and 8 online games so far and I still have no clue what I did differently between good games and bad games, other than lucking out and having the cards I need come up when I needed them.

Correction:
“a playable masterpieces [sic]”

Just picked up the Steam version on sale yesterday. Having a blast with it so far. Beat the single easy AI in my second try so I’m learning. It certainly has the “one more turn” feel to it.

Just played through the tutorial (which is funny and as excellent as billed) and I nearly broke into giggles a couple of times trying to imagine someone handling all this accounting in the table top version.

You watch. They’re going to make a digital version of Mage Knight and it’ll be Tom’s game of the year…

A very high level gameplay/tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ms4t1o1sHo

OK, this is an excellent game.
