I won’t be able to decide for sure until we’ve seen them all.
Oh come on don’t over think it, what we need is an uninformed decision right now!!
Heh. Well, I said the Dvar when I first saw them, so I’ll stick with that. But I like the way some of these factions sound that we haven’t seen yet, so I honestly suspect the reason answer is, for my first game, I’ll hit “random” and go from there. :)
Yeah, if random is a choice I’m betting I hit that too. But then again I might just give my above choice a spin and see if I can turn myself into a robot overlord.
Man I wish this thing was out already, I really need to forget about it till it’s a bit closer to release.
Random will randomise your secret tech as well, and also the aesthetics of your leader.
Could be awesome!!!
Age of Wonders: Planetfall will be available on multiple platforms/stores at launch.
I guess that means it’s too shitty to meet Epic’s standards for sponsored exclusivity.
I KNOW IT IS YOUR JAM
BUT STOP HATING KERZAIN
I NEED THIS
THAT’S RIGHT EVERYBODY, STOP HATING ME
AND I NEED THIS TOO, BUT ONLY ON EPIC STORE
I’M SORRY ABOUT YOUR STUPID FACE
Today’s Dev Diary is all about the Cthulu-like Psi-fish. Man, that name. I was hoping it was just like what the Vangaurd called these things, but no, it looks like their actual name is “Psi-fish” for some reason. Ha ha. Well, okay then, on with the reading!
Psi-fish is the best faction name yet. If I can’t have fun names like “Space Dwarves,” “Solar Elves,” “Moon People,” and “Gravity Goblins” then I’ll take Psi-fish.
For the last 4 Thursdays I have consistently forgotten about the dev diaries…
Someone in the comments on the diary thread pointed out to me that without a language, we can’t know what the psi-fish call themselves, and that’s why in-game they are called “psi-fish”, which mollified me quite a lot.
If the units weren’t so hard to see they’d be my favorite faction yet.
My human leader with a 70’s porn 'stache calls them ‘Friggin Prawns’ while gunning them down.
Hard to see?
Now I want prawns…
Oooh Map Overlay Lenses!
I don’t know about you guys, but the “pull out, simplified” map that was introduced in Civ V and perfected (imo) in AoW3 is one of my favorite things in strategy games. This particular map looks excellent, once again.
I preferred the way the parchment map of AoW3 looked, but I also rarely used/played from that view so this being much more functional is something I’m fully behind. Also, @Lennart_Sas himself wrote,
“The Age of Wonders 3 parchment map was charming, but these Planetfall maps are a lot more useful and clearer in practice.”
…which I can’t help but agree with. Also, aesthetically, these maps look great to me, too.
Has this interview been posted yet?
I read it this morning, thought it was good.
