Livestream currently happening for the Invasions expansion due soon. They’re playing as the Sonic Attack Alien Lizard people.
These seem fun, and that they are adding a whopping 27 of them is very cool, it should take many games to see all the events! Neat.

I only recently (as of my current Synthesis Dvar skirmish match) made an effort to rush an enemy early so I could capture one of their settlements with the express purpose of researching some of their tech. If I wanted to add that layer of complexity to my games, then doing this will provide all sorts of new options to consider when fleshing out my forces.
This really is a game that keeps on giving, and I’m delving much deeper into its mechanics than I did even with the 300~400 ish hours I put into AoW3.

We’ve just posted a new Dev Diary, this week the focus is on the AI Personalities & Diplomacy improvements that are coming alongside Invasions.
I’ve been looking forward to the next dev diary. I noticed on stream the other day there’s a new area under enemy leaders that gives details about their personality (like Warmonger or Pacifist etc). Hopefully this is talked about in the dev diary. I won’t have a chance to read it for a bit.

That sounds like good stuff. Diplomacy has been pretty lame to date, I’m happy to see improvements in this area.
By the time I get around to playing this it will be at version 2.0 with all these updates. :D

I’m late to the party in actually playing this game and am really enjoying. However, one thing I miss from AOW3 is the Seals Victory - that was the best and most interesting victory type (there are a number of sites on the map, Seals, than when conquered by a player will give 1 point a turn towards a Seal Victory, per Seal controlled by faction - the default is 50 points for Victory, although I usually set it to 100). Basically it’s a victory condition a bit like Doomsday weapon except more fluid. The specific thing I liked about was that I found the AI could actually compete for this victory: the AI would go for it; the AI would hit the player hard if the player was about to win, etc. It was a very dynamic victory condition but without all the massive management burden of domination or last player standing.
Have they discussed at all why this is not in the game? Any indications of this being added down the road in an expansion or patch? It would be quite easy to add this to the current game: just put some Ancient Star Union Seal sites on the map, with tough defenders, and set up the victory counter.
I could imagine this might be a bit exploitable for multiplayer, but if so, just disable it for MP, or require all players to agree to it beforehand.

Yes, I loved the Seals victory condition. And I don’t know if they’ve ever talked about adding something like it to Planetfall. But I agree that I’d like to see it return.
Seals would make those Doomsday victory conditions for each tech kind of redundant, wouldn’t they? I’m guessing Doomsday is basically the replacement for Seals, giving players more control over the particulars.
