The dlc tend to add in more content like races, techs and NPC factions, but you have a very good game without dlc.

And there is enough “game” even in the base version to keep you occupied for a long time.

It’s not a matter of content, it’s a matter of time. I’m not one to play a strategy game dozens of times. I’m not going to replay it every time there is a new DLC.

For those that are interested, we are looking for people to join a UR-Test regarding a new Mode for the upcoming expansion. The post can be found over on the Paradox Forums but I’ll quote the details here.

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well and enjoying summer.

The team is underway with planning a new UR (“User Research”) in which we’ll fine-tune a massive new mode for the next expansion with the most seasoned and committed Planetfall commanders in our community. We’re hard at work with making this the best mode that it can be and with help from our wonderful players we’re sure we can get there.

What are we looking for? Players with deep understanding of the game, it’s mechanics and intricacies - with a lot of hours clocked in its singleplayer modes. It’s not necessary to have played the previously released expansions, an intimate familiarity with the base game is fine. We’re only interested in PC players, as that’s the platform that we’re doing the study on and we would like to have players who are willing to put some time into the new mode and really get a feel for it.

This study will be taking place between Aug 18 - Sep 18, during which time participants will play the new mode and share feedback on their experiences, with weekly updates to the game based on this. A few of these participants will be asked to engage in more informal discussions with the team. If you think you fit the description of what we’re looking for and have time to take part, please email us on aowp-testers@paradoxinteractive.com - and be sure to include your Steam nickname.

Started playing this on the xB1x via gamepass. While there’s an option to make the UI the “Largest”, a lot of the text didn’t seem to scale with that and is still kind of hard to read on a 4k TV from the couch. Not sure if there’s a fix for this or not, forum search is pretty useless, as it appears there is an Advanced config available on the PC which I can’t fine on the Console.

Otherwise, kind of having fun working through the tutorial, just needing to squint, use eyedrops, etc. Still not sure what all the icons are or where exactly to find stuff, but getting there (played AoW3 on pc for awhile).

Hi everyone! Lurked on Quarter To Three for years, finally decided to sign up. This is my first post (is there an introduction topic?)

Anyway, I’ve been an AoW fan since Shadow Magic and really enjoying Planetfall. Started a PBEM game with a friend and a few bots as Assembly Promethean, my first multiplayer PF game. I’ll probably post more about this great game later.

meanwhile, my AAR for the forum pbem is as follows:

  • bad scouting
  • went for boom instead of military build up
  • more bad scouting, leading to being masterfully ambushed (like really, it was a thing of beauty. Outnumbered, outgunned, on terrain that debuffed me every turn but left my attacker alone…)
  • I am dead!

But plotting my revenge.

You know, I like how they drop these new releases so abruptly. I get tired of having something announced ages before it’s released and having to wait forever to play it.

I also like it’s coming out in a month when the one and only interesting game coming out, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, comes out ten days later. I’ll have a lot of time with this one.
