Oh wow, I didn’t know anything about the next patch (which is nearly final, it’s doing one final round of testing in Open Beta before going live), but there are some big changes coming.

Thank goodness. It should help make it clearer when it’s time to expand, and keep the early game from being a land rush vs. the AI. NOTE that the 100 production will not increase as of today’s updated patch.

Also lots and lots of fixes, and AI tweaks, and some balance to the over powered Assembly (though they get buffs in some areas). I guess a larger balance patch/pass is coming soon.

Wow, that is a pretty steep increase! You’re right in that it could be good to ease the pace of expansion. They may end up dialing that one back a little.

My question: where the hell is the research item: final revelation? I need to research it to complete doomsday and I’m running out of time (forgot to turn off score in the campaign and I’m not leading, sigh).

Edit: turns out I won on score after all. But still have no idea what “final revelation” is that I as supposed to research. I did a search on the net and specifically at paradox forum still couldn’t find it.

The secret weapon techs are the tree on the bottom of the research screen. It’s the last tech (rightmost) from what I’ve seen. Not sure about your particular one.

Ah, ok. Thanks, have to keep an eye out on that and try for that victory in conjunction with domination, let the campaign play out and see which works out best.

Is the colonizer spam they’re looking to address an MP issue? Or will this slow down the AIs as well who all scream across the map in front of me in every campaign I’ve played in SP?

The AI is set to produce player number of cities + 2 at 3rd difficulty level (normal?)

At Hard and Very Hard it has Player number + infinity I believe.

However, as their bonuses aren’t going up, it should mean fewer cities.

In my most recent game, I didn’t notice very many AI cities.

I had 6 cities, nearest AI had 7 (it used to have 8, but I captured one.)

OK, well as long as this is also affecting the AI sounds great to me.

In the 2x2x2 I just finished they covered the map in pretty short order, in fact I had to defensively expand towards my AI teammate or they would have run over me with their expansion as well.

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to slowing down expansion a bit. I never really like having max landrush be the only viable opening. As it is now, if you don’t shit out colonizers every second you can the AI will gobble up the territory in no time.

I play on max marauders, which seems to be an effective brake.

Don’t those marauders then also come after you?

They come after everyone, but I can handle it better than the AI I think.

So it stops mad expansion.
