That’s astonishing to me. I guess I can understand how someone wouldn’t like this game, and since wumpus never really took to it, I can’t fault him for not sticking with it, much less appreciating the stuff I liked in it. But calling it “generic” strikes me as a Trump level of unreality.
I mean, right off the bat, one of the first character intros:
A Latina pirate chick named Fortune with a bot that stuns people named Glory. That’s got scads of personality, and the presentation is firmly rooted in an affection for comics. And alongside her are a naval officer with a harpoon gun and a smarmy reality TV show star (who, I would argue, is actually lampooning generic action heroes!). And those are the opening moments of the game, with about two dozen more characters yet to come!
But again, I’m a card-carrying Agents of Mayhem fanboi, so maybe it’s just me…
