Most readings of Alabama election law hold that the Secretary of State there has to certify the election results by January 3 or so (I’ve seen some debate on the exact day, but it’s basically the first week of the new year.)
This last yearish has taught me there are a lot of polite things going on in politics that has zero consequences when you don’t do it. And by polite things, I kind of mean checks and balances I thought were there but were really just agreements. I make fewer assumptions but still make some.
Yep. Polite “gentlemen’s agreements” such as… the rule of law?
It’s been a rough year for our democratic

OH, we’re well past a year… Merrick Garland?
Congratulations to Alabama for making the right choice!
I’m a day or too late but I loved this comment in the conspiracy thread:
reporters went looking for the ‘jew lawyer’ and can’t find him like ‘mike pence’s gay friend.’ https://forward.com/news/390104/my-quest-to-find-roy-moores-jewish-attorney-if-there-is-one/?attribution=articles-hero-item-text-2
“we thought Mike was Jewish, but it turns out he just had a big nose and liked money.”
Pence is a Republican politician. He absolutely has multiple gay friends. He just doesn’t know they’re gay.
Mike Pence is turbo gay himself.
He’s just got a wide stance.
Don’t leave him alone in a room with republican men?
I think my favorite thing from that Tweet’s replies:
And then you have dogpile replies like this:
So, apparently we all cheated guys. Games up, we’ve been caught!! But it was worth it, we completely planned the gain of Republican seats in Congress and Trumps win. Winning!
I feel a little better when replies that are completely divorced from reality get ratioed so hard.
Better than Roy Moore is a low bar. But at least he’s still not Roy Moore.
