I pointed it out after it was mentioned. But then realized I was in the WoW thread. Sigh.
Holy shit commas. No more Amp for me while posting.
I reinstalled Diablo 2 last night. Blizzard is taking too damn long with D3, screw 'em, back to the known quantity!

My wife gave me a $50 Gamestop card for Valentine’s day. (And then a super hot date later, so the card was pure gravy.)
I am still in the midst of Bizarre Gamer Apathy Limbo – haven’t played anything (other than Artemis with the Qt3 Crew) in weeks – so I am pretty sure the next game I will have any interest in buying is Diablo III. So I just got Diablo III for (almost) free! Yay!!!
Really? How much did the complementary gift that you exchanged with her go for? ;)
Being able to purchase Diablo III for almost nothing does sound pretty cool. Not nearly as cool as actually being able to purchase Diablo III, though.

You jest, but getting a gamestop card like that counts as permission. So it really is like getting the game (nearly) free :)

We should be getting an article detailing the revamped rune and skill system by the weekend that coincides with a beta patch so we can play with the new skills. Then we are “on the road to releaseville” according to Bashiok (Blizzard CM). I think we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel finally!

Upcoming wipe! Also for those of you who do not have beta keys, you can try at these places.
I had seen the upcoming wipe notices, but I didn’t realize it would coincide with rune and skill changes–good news.

Sigh. I just started releveling my guys from the last wipe.
Some interesting changes to the D3 AH:
In the near future, we’ll be implementing several changes to the posting limits and fees related to the beta version of the Diablo III auction house. Here’s a quick summary of what’s in store:
Listing fee is being removed.
Transaction fee is being increased to 1.25 Beta Bucks.
Minimum listing price is being raised to 1.50 Beta Bucks.
You will be limited to 10 active auctions per auction house.
With the removal of the listing fee, players will no longer need to worry about whether they’re going to run out of free listings for the week. In addition, introducing a limit on the number of active auctions means players won’t feel as though they should be trying to sell everything they find, potentially flooding the auction house with unwanted items. Under this new system, players will only pay an auction house fee if and when an item actually sells. This has the main advantage of allowing players to try to sell their items risk-free. In addition, because the transaction fee is already baked into the price when an item is listed (as part of the minimum listing price), it’s no longer possible to be in a situation where you don’t have enough Battle.net Balance to list an item, forcing you to have to charge up your Balance just to attempt a sale. We think this will be a much cleaner process for selling items and will ultimately lead to a better experience when using the currency-based auction house.
This new active-auction limit will also apply to the gold-based auction house. Because gold can be sold on the currency-based auction house, we need to ensure there are limitations on the gold auction house as well; otherwise, a player might be tempted to sell everything for gold and then sell that gold on the currency-based auction house, which isn’t supportive of the kind of thriving item-driven market we’re trying to foster. In addition, for the first time in the beta test, we’re planning to have both the gold- and currency-based auction houses active at the same time when these changes go live. Of course, one of our main goals in making these changes to the beta is to test how they’ll work out, and we look forward to hearing your feedback once you have a chance to try them.
Those are some pretty big changes overall, but obviously this is the sort of thing they have to get locked in solidly before release, since they’ll want to have to change it as little as possible once it’s actually running, and using people’s money.

Wow, you posted this before all of the various fansites! Have you considered an exciting career in CTRL-C/CTRL-V web journalism?
As for the change itself, sure, that makes sense. Then don’t want new players to have to pull out their creditcards to make that first sale and enter the economy.
So the scheduled maintanence going on the servers now ends in a few hours, with the latest update being the new patch 13 going live tonight yet, along with that we should know more about the changes to the skill and runestone systems that has caused the game to slip into Q2 territory. Additional changes to the UI and Demon Hunter class are expected but not mentioned explicitly, as well.
Some russian site data mined this screen (which is lacking in actual text/UI as it is probably just a flat image that is overlayed behind the data) which while very possibly fake, could also indicated Runestones will be moving away from being items that drop, and possibly something you develop/spend points on (rune points?) as you level up, to give back sense of customization to your character (and also to give something for you to do besides get better loot drops as you level from 30 to 60 in the higher difficulty levels).
Hopefully we’ll know more in the next few hours.
If they don’t keep listing fees, they really need to come up with ways to keep the prices at sane levels, unless they think that the sheer volume of transactions will do that for them.
