Downloading now…

Great news! I’m all over this. I’m also very curious to see how the RMAH shakes out as well.

Playing Diablo 2 in an 800x600 window the game actually looks and plays VERY good. I just did it last summer, but it really is imperative that you have the expansion for that 800x600 resolution. DO NOT play this in full screen though, it looked bad in full screen 10 years ago, and looks much worse on today’s monitors, IMHO.

I’m over the moon Diablo III finally has an official launch date. Putting in some vacation time for the 15th, and I have a fine cigar ready at home to celebrate. :)

I’ll be paying like every other addict - but 60 euros is somewhat tasteless, given the ridiculous popularity of this title.

I have to admit I was a bit shocked by the price as well. Then again games never really matched inflation to begin with (at least not here).

I guess Europe gets hit by the “60 euros == $60” thing again. Actually it will probably be cheaper for me than D2 in nominal Canadian dollars, given that we are at about parity with the greenback now.

What was the Diablo2 launch price?

They are not allowing pre-purchasers to beta? Why?

I don’t think it is just a simplicity of conversion thing (though it is probably some of that). European prices for consumer goods are generally higher, on a straight conversion basis, than the U.S. In fact, from my limited experience (a couple trips or so a year), I find the price of consumer goods to average just a little higher than what a straight conversion would yield, at todays exchange rates (e.g., a 30% mark up).

I have a lot of projects to finish around the house in the next 2 months before I become completely worthless to anyone but my D3 char.

I’m pretty sure my D2 CE was like $70 or something, back in the mists of time.

Good news about the release date, and it’s about when I was expecting it to be. Wonder what I’ll play in the interim after my second ME3 runthrough is finished? More Victoria II?

If anyone finds out if the digital download will work side-by-side with the D3 beta and/or can be used in the D3 beta, let me know.

You only download the encrypted setup files. It won’t actually install until release day.

This made me laugh. I was looking to see when it was announced (June, almost 4 years ago from the day it will ultimately ship) and saw Chris’s post just a few down from the OP. I bolded the funny.

Not sure what you are asking here. The full game is a separate client from the beta and will be in a different folder using its own assets.

Oh ok. From the description, where it said that you wouldn’t be able to log in, I was thinking that it might install and patch the game, but you just couldn’t use it until you logged in. That answers both questions then.

Heh, Cyanide is probably pissed off now. They announced a May 15th release for Game of Thrones not too long ago.

Heh. What about Runic and Torchlight 2? I think they’ve stuck themselves into a bad situation now. Either they rush to beat D3, or they take their time and get overshadowed.

I don’t think Torchlight 2 has anything to worry about at this point.

How so? I’ll buy both, but I don’t think that’s the way most people roll, at least not full price for both titles. I forsee a lot of “I’ll wait for the Steam sale” reactions to T2 releasing around D3 even with a $20 launch price.
