Diablo 3 Collectors Edition is back in stock @ Amazon.

Just a FYI.

My god this beta download is taking AGES. I swear I’m being seeded by a guy in Mexico hotspotting off his cellphone or something.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH!

My heart bleeds for you. :(

It was only torture because I’ve been wanting to check it out for so long and only just yesterday managed to get a key when Eurogamer gave out a thousand of them.

I’m all better now.

So is there a good site for catching up on the events of Diablo 1 and 2 ?

The beta for D3 has been my first taste of the Diablo world, and I am pretty sure I don’t have the time nor desire to go back and play D1 and D2 ( I am pretty sure they would make my eyes bleed due to dated graphics).

I saw there is a Diablo 3 Book of Cain on Amazon, is it worth getting?

Dude, the plot of Diablo is almost literally: “Diablo is invading Sanctuary!!!” Don’t worry about it.

I’ve wondered the same, and the reviews seem fairly positive. But those could be just hardcore Blizz fans slavering over anything the company releases. And like Giaddon said, we’re not talking GRRM-esque nuance or complexity.

OMG demons. Fresh meat, whoa, got a bone to pick with you too, Lazarus. Soul gem, shiny, ouch headache. To the east… always to the east. Tentacle angel, BAM worldstone sworded. Oh snap!

Diablo 3.

Check out Deckard Cain’s journal: http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/lore/journal.xml

There is also a rough timeline there: http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/timeline.xml

This is a pretty decent video its 3 parts

thx guys, I was browsing the wiki for info since I last posted, at least I understand why the D3 Collectors Edition has a skull with a crystal in it now, lol.

The last game was ten years ago. I don’t think anyone beyond the most hardcore remembers much beyond you save Deckard Cain and kill a bunch of demons. I forget why killing Baal is supposed to be permanent.

I certainly don’t remember much about the story - except there were some demons…

You should have stayed a while, and listened…

I remember watching some story recaps not too long ago and being sort of surprised how deep the story went, I remember thinking I must have missed a lot of those details from Diablo 2 actually.

I’m glad I watched the recaps, I’m greatly interested in seeing where the story goes in Diablo III (that first time, and then skipping all the dialog/cutscenes as fast as possible for every play through passed the first one ;P)

There was a story? I guess I was too busy killing it and taking its treasure to notice.

I just can’t get over Deckard Cain’s voice acting. It’s the most stereotypical old man voice ever and if the story wasn’t such a non-concern for me, it would be really distracting. Every time he talks, I’m half expecting him to respond to my character’s lines with “Eh, what’s that, sonny?”.

Of course. It was primarily told through the movies between acts. D2’s cinematics were amazing.

I believe the manual from the first game, and possibly the second as well, had a hundred or so pages devoted to lore and history. It was like all the manuals for the older blizz games, packed with all kinds of background info. I think that’s party of why so many people got so into their games.
