There was a really good Sorc sword that my girlfriend had drop when we were playing characters together in co-op, so yes. :) It was thissword!
So, I’ve currently got this preordered through Amazon, which isn’t offering any preorder bonuses. If I don’t care about having a boxed copy, I get to play sooner by downloading it directly from Blizzard, correct?
Edit: Also, no tax! Is this a no-brainer?
Finished off the skeleton king as a sorc last night and started up a demon hunter. I’ll definitely be going Barb first. I just love the feeling of raw stompy power in that class. Then I’ll try a DH then Sorc, and sometime down the road I’ll do monk and witch doctor.

Yeah, you can play at midnight with the Blizzard downloaded version. With Amazon, you are waiting for the UPS guy instead of playing.
Assuming the servers dont go down when it first comes out.

If anyone can handle a multi-million player launch, it is Blizzard. Peak concurrency won’t even happen until the evening of the 15th, so playing at midnight SHOULD be ok.
I must be the last person on the planet who hasn’t gotten a beta invite. Didn’t they just invite like another quarter million people last week?
(raises hand)
Nope, you’re not the only one.
No, no, I haven’t got one, too. Apparently half of the planet has signed up for this beta.
I wouldn’t worry too much about not being in the beta at this point, it’s wrapping up on the 1st anywhow, and with less than 4 weeks to release, everyone who wanted in the beta will be happier experiencing the release version fresh, I’d imagine.
For those in the beta, Patch 17 is dropping tonight and doing yet another wipe. No idea what’s changing, but since the changes the last two patches have been pretty minimal, probably not a lot.
I’m not hand-wringing about it, just sick of my friends with their “Oh my God these parts are so cool!.” You know, the conversation that would be great if you were in on it but comes off sounding like Jehovah’s Witnesses droning on at your door if you’re not.
Yeah, fair enough. I’m sure my own friends (all of whom didn’t get in) are thinking the same thing every time I say the “D” word in conversation. “Oh, gawd, here we go again.”
That doesn’t stop me though.
Only true friends send screenshots with appropriate meme faces to those who haven’t been invited into the Beta, remember that people!
I simply would like to try it, 1-2 hours would be enough, as I’m planning not to buy it “on day 1” and I want to reaffirm the perceived quality of the game.
If you are going into ANYTHING with a pre-concieved notion, you’re going to get the results you want. Just avoid it until you get a chance to play the start edition/demo or whatever it’s called.
Perhaps I will do just that.

My partner is so sick of hearing about D3 that she is planning on being in a different city for the 18th - 20th of May.

I hope its viable to play the Demon Hunter as an Archer right through the game. I prefer ranged combat in action RPGs, but those hand crossbows look really lame compared to a proper bow. If they insist on her wielding a ranged weapon in each hand why not just introduce crude handguns?
I played all my demon hunters with bows in the beta, but I guess it will depend on what sort of loot drops you get, too.
