So, ehm, this stress test… Are they testing their servers breaking point, or my mental breaking point?

Try again later, again and again and again…

Aaaaargh!

It feels very weird to see my real name appear in a video game. Anyone else find that weird?

Er, no, I didn’t set my BattleID with my real name… Where are you seeing your real name, in your character icon at the top left? That’s your BattleID.

I used to put my name/the names of friends in as party members in CRPGS all the time. Like all normal people.

Right click on your character on the screen where you finally hit play.

It was weird at first, but I got used to it after playing Starcraft 2. If I can get on, I’ll re post my battle ID.

I guess blizzard has identified the fact that they forgot to include login queues and has capped the number of people allowed in the game.

Seems entertaining, but Jesus the performance is assy for me. I’ll go from 100+ FPS when my dude is standing still, to suddenly jerking and freezing when I start moving. It’s like it’s some weird memory issue since it eventually calms down in some areas and goes 100+ FPS at all times, but then I’d go from outside to inside the cathedral and it goes to shit again. Since I don’t have problems like that EXCEPT with D3 I’m thinking it’s the game and not my machine.

Apart from that pissing in my Cheerios, clicking on monsters was alright.

More likely, it’s the server issues. Open beta crowd and all that.

Remember that everything you do that pulls from a data table is coming from the Blizzard servers.

Yeah, those are serverside. D3 plays butter smooth when the servers aren’t overloaded.

Yeah it seemed to me that the slight stuttering was from server loading and not machine performance.

I guess that could be, it just seems odd that it would freeze my machine like that. For example at one point some zombies were lurching after me, and the game was frozen (Well, mostly frozen. Got like a single frame every few seconds) so long that they killed me at full health. The game seemingly was running, it just wasn’t showing up on my machine.

I dunno, sure hope whatever’s causing the issue gets fixed by launch. I might just be cursed though, Diablo 2 was all fucked up for me at launch as well. Wouldn’t read in one of my CD drives, and wouldn’t recognize my video card. Ended up returning it (Returning PC games, those were the days) and getting Deus Ex.

I managed to slip in and play briefly with a Barbarian. The game is absolutely gorgeous and plays really well. Really enjoying it so far. :D

@Bashiok
We’ve temporarily capped #D3 open beta concurrency until we can address some stability issues. Expect Error 37 and login failure.

Gorgeous!

The early levels are where the lack of skill selection is at its worst, so I’m sorry we are stuck there!

Looking forward to May 15!

I’m looking forward to May 19th, when I might be able to log in!

Not to be an ass (okay, fully to be an ass), but I’m glad to hear that their server-based model is working out so well already!

I dunno man, hold off on that until you can actually play the game at a time when the servers aren’t severely overloaded right now.

I’m honestly not sure this kind of demo weekend is that good of an idea. You’re inevitably going to get thousands of people who are reminded of what can happen when you tie a game into an online structure so heavily. This isn’t just a couple pings that need to go out to Ubisoft or EA servers, your whole experience is tied into the content servers themselves.

Hoo boy, this game is gonna get the hell played out of it. I got to Level 2 of the Cathedral with a Demon Hunter, but I don’t wanna spoil too much of the game for myself, so I quit for now.

Hurry up May 15th!

Persistence payed off: finally in! Played a bit with a barbarian and must say I quite like it. The game runs very smooth and looks lovely, I really like the different lvls!

Funny enough the second waypoint arrived just as my inventory was full, but I wonder: will there be townportal scrolls later on?
