To be honest, you’re really not missing much. I don’t mean in terms of quality regarding the game, just the very very small amount of content you can actually see. So if you don’t get a chance to give it a whirl, don’t feel too bad.

Seriously. It’s cool to be able to try out all the different classes, but in terms of actual content, the beta is like tutorial length with a boss battle at the end. You’re not missing anything you won’t get from the Starter Edition, I’m sure.

After playing the OB, it looks like this might be a Day 1 purchase for me.

It’s diablo 3. It’s a day 1 purchase for everybody, including every single person posting in these threads that they aren’t going to buy it. It’s frickin’ diablo 3, man.

I’m going to be that guy that suggests everyone just go to this thread and let this ridiculously named 130 page thread die a sudden death. Do not reply to this post.

I’m going to suggest everyone ignore that other thread. This one is the original, true thread.

This thread is definitely superior.

Bump since this is the better thread.

Most games are so good about teaching you how to play in-game these days, especially relatively simple ones like Diablo 3, that I rarely feel the need to mess around with options and key bindings much. Only if I suspect that there’s something I want to do but probably could if I knew the right key to press / enabled the option to do it.

Yeah, I’m like 99% sure that Monk weapons are eventually going to get attributes to make them more appropriate to Monks, etc.

I only got to play for about an hour over the weekend, but I loved it.Wishing I had downloaded it earlier (someone said it was 7 GB so I figured I could wait, but I downloaded it Sunday evening on a whim and got to play before work this morning). Really looking forward to getting it and spending a big chunk of time playing on the 15th and 16th. Can’t wait.

Also, this is the real thread!

Nonsense, I wouldn’t buy it. Haven’t bought a Blizzard game in 5+ years. Only reason I’m going to be ending up with Diablo 3 is because it falls conveniently close to my birthday. So the blood is still on my hands I guess, but eh. Not bothered enough to ensure I don’t get it as a present.

Are items going to have bonuses to certain skills or all of a class skills or anything like what Diablo 2 had in that regard? I really have no idea what late game item mods are going to look like in this game besides the obvious +damage, hp, etc.

After playing Diablo3 beta, I rushed to buy Path of Exile.

Diablo 3 is not Diablo 2. Path of Exile is more Diablo 2 than Diablo 2, Is how Diablo 2 would be made if where made today. This is one reason.

I don’t even remember fighting elite mobs in diablo3. I want my diablolike games to have yellow skellies with inmunity to elemental, that poison my character if get into mele. In my time playing Diablo 3 nothing was really memorable, except perhaps a challenge that asked me to survive 42 seconds while hordes of skellies started popping.

I have not bought Starcraft 2, because I am not convinced that is the game for me, and perhaps D3 will fall in the same category.

There are both unique mobs and champions in D3. I ran into several in the beta.

The uniques have multiple modifiers, I think 2 in normal, 3 in nightmare, etc. It’s just like D2.

If you want to play Diablo 2, then play Diablo 2. Why do you want more of the same?

This whole paragraph is so unbelievably misguided and uninformed.

To come to this conclusion requires not having read anything about Diablo 3, and perhaps having been high on zolpidem while playing the beta.

You’re taking 13 levels, the first quarter of the first act of the game, and applying it to the entire experience.

If I go find a Let’s Play video of Paths of Exile, am I going to see people getting into challenging situations in the first 10 levels? Am I going to see a ton of elite mobs and memorable events?

It’s cool, he also thinks he’s going to buy Path of Exile. Good luck with that, T.

I found some fist weapons with spirit generation built into them

Well, to be fair, 800x600 resolution (or whatever it was capped at) is pretty painful on modern displays. I ran Diablo 2 a few months ago on my 37"… yikes.
