Seriously, though, I’ve got some hangups about Diablo 3 but I’m looking forward to the 15th. The nice thing is I’m going in with somewhat low expectations so pretty much either get what I bargained for or I end up being very pleasantly surprised.

I’m feeling the same way. Thankfully path of exile showed us that it can be pulled off so here’s hoping blizzard learned some lessons.

I definitely am. I bulked up my Battlenet friends list from that site that someone linked earlier in the thread, so hopefully getting a game won’t be too hard.

And my kid is leaving for camp on the 14th! It’s like the gods insist that I spend every evening for a week playing D3!

Looks like there are some preview screens of the strategy guide (in iPad form, sounds like the iPad is getting a separate app or something but there is also a physical guideas well).

Some mild earl act 1 spoilers I would suppose, and some late game information on location names buried in some of the creature cards.

Some of those numbers scare the crap out of me. You’re fighting early act 1 mini-bosses with 2.5m health!? Inferno enemies deal 170k/damage per swing in Act IV!? WTH? That’s some huge scaling, considering at level 13 in the beta I had like 400-500 health and was doing maybe 70-80 damage with my big abilities, possibly low 100’s with a crit or something.

I wonder how much health and DPS you end up with as you round Hell difficulty and start gearing up for Inferno? Yikes.

Bleed, yeah the scaling is pretty crazy. I’ve heard that players might be able to their health into the 80k range with the right gear. That still implies pretty good damage reduction if that hit isn’t going to 1-shot though.

Maybe inferno will be too hot for me!

I was initially ho-hum about D3 but ever since the public beta I can’t wait to piss away my spring couped up in doors playing this thing. I fired up Diablo 2 to scratch my click and bash itch but man oh man the years haven’t been kind to Diablo 2. Kind of wish I held on to my ancient 15inch CRT as it looks like pixelated ass on my 32 inch LCD monitor.

You can download the client now. It’s on my hard drive.

I preordered a boxed version because it was on sale, but I still feel ambivalent about playing a single-player MMO… waiting for reviews. Luckily I’m in Canada and it’ll take a while for the box to arrive.

I mentioned this once beore, but DON’T play Diablo 2 full screen. Play it in a window, it actually holds up quite well.

Its sound can fill my small parlour-room with the most astonishingly lifelife sounds adequately, which is most agreeable for my goodwife Elizabeth, who uses the room to embroider dainties and churn fresh cold butter for my morning breaking fast. She is a god-fearing woman, and she is presently in the back rooms playing with the children and cleaning the pantry, as is only proper.

And now I must say good day to you, my good man, for I must retire to my chambers to be bled, as my barber tells me my humours are unbalanced.
