Wheeeee, someone’s been drinking.

I ordered a physical copy only because Battle.net charges me 9.5% sales tax, so does Amazon, and Newegg doesn’t. Also, Newegg had a $10-off sale a few weeks back. So in the end, I’m getting it for $49.99 instead of $66-ish.

Getting it free via the annual pass but also ordered a CE because I’m a sucker for such things.

I expect the first few days to be a lagfest but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

That is why I took off the week after release, if there are any issues, they should be ironed out by then. :)

This is what I did too. I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for the game though.

See, here’s a man thinking ahead. :) I think you’ll be proven correct, actually. The first week might not be so fun…

I’m not sure whether a week would be enough time but yes, good planning!

Yeah, don’t worry. Me and a few million of my friends will help get things sorted out for you “smart” ones during launch week.

I predict a few minor server issues, but then general stability. Yes, I can be an optimist sometimes.

The problem I had with this (otherwise sound) approach was I did NOT want to be sitting at work IF things were going smoothly. I’d rather gamble and lose that I can’t play on the 15th but I can at least be home fuming about it, rather than not gamble and find myself at work while my friends are all telling me how awesome it is and getting an 8 hour jump on me. :)

I’m doing the normal routine approach. D3 is a long-term investment, so instead of chewing through as much as possible as early on as possible, I’m just going to go about my daily life as if everything is normal.

Except for some much later nights. For a long time.

I have it pre-loaded and ready to go, but it doesn’t unlock until 4am for me, so no play until later on the 15th.

Is the unlock time 12am PST on the 15th or something like it? I can’t seem to find a documentation to support when I need to set my alarm.

According to the Diablo III site: “For the Americas region, comprising the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia, the game servers will go live at 12:01 a.m. PDT on May 15. As a reminder to our Latin American players, the digital version of Diablo III will go live on May 15, and the retail version will launch on June 7.”

Guess im going to wake up a few hours early to go to work.

I haven’t been able to find anything on their site promising release day delivery or anything, but it’ll hopefully at least ship a day or two before release. Doesn’t really matter to me though, I’ll have people visiting at the same time so I wouldn’t have much chance to play anyway.

Sure, but you can’t actually play it (boxed or download copy) until it goes live on the blizzard servers.

Ugh, just checked my order for the CE at Amazon and somehow I ordered two-day delivery, now est to be 5/17. Those are going to be some long days if I can’t find one sooner. I don’t know if the in-game stuff and the soundtrack are going to be worth it in this case.

They will be worth the wait. I just double checked my order:

Amazon Prime: Release-Date Delivery is free

I would hop on a digital CE (obv not at the same price, maybe $70) but I just don’t want more physical media. In fact I really don’t want any physical game media anymore, it just adds to the clutter, except maybe books because I have a handy bookshelf.

I have a binder I store all my media on the book shelf space I dedicate to strategy guides, works pretty well. I’ve been filling it a lot slower over the years as I buy more games online, but there are still physical copies of games I want.
