BleedTheFreak, I’m sorry, but that’s just getting completely ridiculous. Level 14 is not some great and wonderful promised land of milk and honey and pwnage like you apparently believe it to be. I don’t know how any rational being could be excited over getting level 14, it’s not that big of a deal.
Now, being the high-minded intellectual that I am, I’m positively giddy to reach level 15 - that’s where it’s really at! :D
Heh, sure, sure.
I mean because of the level cap in the beta, seeing all those crafted items or that one skill you just couldn’t wait to see all be level 14 was maddening. Like an itch you could never scratch. :)
It’s like I’ve got to test these new skills and items, all the time, or I get this… this ITCH. Oh, but when I do test, man alive, let me tell ya…

Haha, oh yea, I totally get it - you played the hell (rimshot) out of the beta and were stuck at level 13 all that time, I can imagine how fun it’ll be just to take that next step after being restricted at that level for so long. I hope it was clear that I was totally joking!
I never even reached L13 on the open beta weekend, but the whole time I was anxious for the game to come out. I have a hard time with RPGs when I know it’s temporary and that my characters are stuck at low level and will be wiped soon anyway, so now that release is coming soon I’m really excited to sink my teeth into the game.
All it needs is a DPS meter ;)
So, I realize that firebombing businesses is probably (PROBABLY) a bit much, but this is Australia. Perhaps they could consider loosing drop bears into GAME’s offices in retaliation?
Wow. No Diablo III and you don’t get your money back? That’s raw.

My local weatherman tells me the fire from the sky is starting to clear up this morning!
BTW, if you have ATI Catalyst 12.4 drivers, you may want to read this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4876967911
We’ve recently become aware that playing Diablo III with the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers for ATI cards may cause some visual artifacts for specific hardware configurations. This issue affects users of ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards under Windows Vista and Windows 7. ATI Radeon HD 4600, 4700, 4800, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series products are unaffected, as is Windows XP.
ATI is aware and investigating. Until a solution can be provided we recommend those affected use the Catalyst 12.3 drivers.
Update
This issue has now been resolved in the AMD Catalyst 12.4a hotfix driver. Users of the ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600 and 4500 graphics cards are the only AMD customers who need to download this hotfix driver.
ATI, man. Always an issue. I’ll never buy an ATI card again.
That’s the level of hardcore I’d expect from a country where these guys are all over the place…
Oh yeah, I knew you were joking around, no worries. :) I was never intending to even PLAY the beta, but once I started I found it was more fun to kill time while watching something on Hulu (a bad habit I got into years ago, I need to be playing SOMETHING while I watch TV, I can’t just sit there and watch TV) with the Diablo 3 beta than something like Bejeweled Blitz or what have you. Eventually I managed to level up all the classes to 13 at least twice, three times in some cases.
The gameplay itself was really solid and entertaining, so I suppose that’s what has me the most excited for the full retail version. Though seeing more skills and items is a big part of it, too.
I can’t wait to get through the game the first time and finally start the game as a hardcore character. That said, I’m glad Blizzard still forces you to play through as a softcore/Immortal character the first time through. Honestly, if they didn’t have that requirement, I wouldn’t have seen the end of Diablo 2’s story for months after the game’s release.
Another thing that the softcore/Immortal playthrough does is that it takes story out of the picture. The first time you play, you’re kind of fascinated with their awesome cinematics and voice work, and story, and want to see what happens next. Once that first playthrough is over, that whole side of the game gets thrown out. From then on it’s purely about the gameplay and surviving, and doing whatever it takes to not die. The skills you choose, the equipment choices you make, it all boils down to one thing: living. It’s pure like that, since story and everything else is already out of the picture by that point.

Agh. I go into a murderous rage when I see overly large wolf spiders, having one of those in my house would… not be good for either myself or the spider.
Ok, that’s the nastiest spider picture I’ve seen in a long time. Here I was thinking I’d lost most of my arachnophobia… I’d be an insanely violent person with that thing in my vicinity.
BTW, wasn’t it supposed to be installable - NOW?

I’m installing now. :)
EDIT: Well, let me clarify. My installer is unlocked, I’m just getting an “error initializing streaming” when I try. Looks like it’s coming up now, though.

Doesn’t sound like it affects all that many people anyway, even before the hotfix. Most people probably have a 4600 or better by now, and the people that don’t have it probably are still on Windows XP anyway, and they’re probably unaffected too. Not saying it doesn’t suck. I’ve been pretty unhappy with owning an ATI card at times in the last couple of years, but this seems like a pretty obscure case even for ATI owners.
Working for me! Roll on midnight!
I can get to the point where it actually starts installing, but then it tells me it cannot stream the data, then crashed
