I have trouble installing this - Or rather, once the downloader has the 7.60 GB data, it just hangs there and does nothing…ocassionally it will say it need 560 days to complete it, and then the time left will just vanish.
Anyone else seeing that?
12 hours after launch, and someone has already finished Diablo 3.
You guys are all pansies.
Its probably related to the emergency maintenance going on right now

Seriously? So, I cant install my singleplayer game because too many people are playing it? I knew this was a good idea…
But thanks for the heads up!
If this thing’s anything like the SC2 installer/patcher, it’s super sensitive to firewalls, antivirus, and other various security-esque stuff (PeerBlock and the like). Plus, SC’s just sort of tends to dump its files as temp files anywhere it damn well pleases in my C: drive rather than my enormous external because. . . I don’t really know why.
Anyway, AV might be freaked by it trying to access those files it’s created or anything that fiddles with net connections might have allowed the P2P download traffic but is preventing it from “dialing home” to start the installation/patch process now.
Well, this will go down as one of those horrible launches that Blizzard has actually been able to avoid. Guess they are human after all. Since buying it at midnight last night, I have been able to actually play about 45 minutes. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. I even took today as a vacation day and have pretty much wasted it.

It does make sense afaik. Certainly there are tradeoffs in terms of purchasing servers versus renting, but by the time you’ve paid the datacenter bills it’s a lot lower than you might think.
André Costa - Heh, true. I remember the Meridian 59 server requirements being discussed by Brian Green. Back in the day it was a server, now it was a none-too-expensive virtual server…

Actually, mine did this too. A week ago. So that’s probably not the problem.
What you need to do is cancel the downloader at the end, and then run the downloader again. It will then pick up on what it’s done so far and complete. This is the exe file you downloaded from Blizzard NOT the setup exe in the Preload folder. The setup won’t work because one of the files hasn’t gone through some final step yet.
I guess this will be no different than D3 open beta when most people could play for hours with no problems and some couldn’t even connect. I wonder what’s going on.
divorced, the server status page claims the US servers are back up. I’m at work so I can’t log in right now to confirm.
I don’t know. The forums are filled with folks going ballistic of course as if that will help any. It is certainly a bummer considering I am home all day today, but life goes on. I’m gonna run a couple of errands, come back and try again.
I’m sure it will be up as soon as possible. Until then, maybe I’ll boot up Kingdoms of Amalur.
Nope, just tried so clearly you can’t trust that server status page.
Is it normal to have two D3 guest passes (plus one WoW pass) in the retail box? In any case, I have two. One is going to a real-life friend, but the other is up for grabs. Please PM me - first come, first served.
EDIT - the pass has been claimed, thanks for playing etc.
Ouch, that’s bad news. Wonder how long until someone puts up an independent DIII server uptime monitor of some sort.
Looks like the digital edition doesn’t have any guest passes. Odd decision, that.
I can confirm that many game features are still not working. I tried closing and now I can’t get in because ‘The streaming download cannot start’ on my fully installed copy of D3. Not happy either.
BTW, I have the store-bought CE version. I figured if anyone was gonna have problems, it would be all the digital downloading folks. Guess I missed that one, we are all in the same boat!
Servers are up. They’re just full.
What we need is a chart that shows which servers have room.

My game says that “There is a temporary outage of the Battle.net service Please try again later (Error 75)”. I certainly can’t log in.

Thanks! That did the trick.
The installer music is just…brilliant - its like being home.
edit: Well, I’m stuck at 1 percent now - I guess patience is important :-D
