The NA launch is shaping up to be pretty shitty compared to Asia it seems.

If it’s any consolation, Europe is borked as well. Looks like my 5.30am D3 session this morning is the only one I’m going to have for a while yet.

I got in, but I can’t resume, start, or join any games.

That didn’t take very long, Joe. How many hours total to complete the game on Normal? Were you intentionally burning through the content or is there just not as much content as there was in DII?

I’m stuck at retrieving hero list. This is the time I wish I could add people to my friend’s list from battle.net as it would be something to do while waiting.

If they can’t handle the morning/mid-day scenario, they’re going to be fucked come primetime. While I was defending their choice to not fully allocate for the launch day midnight surge, it’s looking like they seriously underallocated. Prime time peak is probably going to be a lot higher for the next few weeks than the morning usage that’s causing it to fall over at the moment.

I guess my decision to sleep rather than play this morning paid off!

Is choosing to sleep EVER a bad option?

Is there a post somewhere were Blizzard says it’s not going as well as they may have hoped with their sixty dollar game?

Hah - finally got the game installed, and got the Servers are Busy error.

I love my singleplayer games…

You’re assuming the problems right now are caused by server load and not some technical issue.

It’s not a singleplayer game. It’s a multiplayer game that happens to be soloable.

Yeah, my assumption is right now that taking the servers offline for several hours means something blowed up.

What a terrible launch. You’d think they’d have learned something from World of Warcraft and the way they’ve improved that over the years.

Just dumb.

Back to Torchlight 2 Beta in the meantime.

General Barnicke: Where is your server, men?
John Winger: Blown up, sir!
IT guys: Blown up, sir!

im enjoying the whiners on the blizz forums asking for a refund.

I’ve been playing GW1 as a bizarre pseudo-Diablo so back to that for me :)

Are you an infected marine, or is that spot-on parody of a water-carrying Blizzard PR man?

Stick to your guns next time.

Too be fair, $60 and time off from work and no sorry to be seen.
I expected better.

I’m neither. I happen to think Blizzard makes awesome games, but they’ve never invited me out for drinks and dancing or anything.

What I said is factual though…the always-on thing is in there, so we have to deal with servers going down and emergency maintenance and all that comes with it. Buy it or don’t buy it; those appear to be your choices.

And thats completely fair enough. I’ve taken the rest of the week off to play as well. Im just amused at the tone.

A sorry is going to be pretty hard for them. Since as anyone will point out its not like Blizzard shouldnt have been aware of the number of people who were likely to logon last evening. ie EVERYONE in the world.
