Hmn, many streamers are in the middle of Hell already, having played only 20 hours. Was hoping it’d be a little harder than that. Hopefully Inferno is a huge spike.

im in

That’s what she said.

So those who are getting in, if you are even reading this lol. Are you just letting it hang on the retrieving characters part or are you canceling and relogging constantly.

I popped right in, first try.

I just logged in too, no problem.

God, when people come home from work tonight, logging in is going to be brutal.

After the troubles this morning just to get a little play before work (servers didn’t go live until 0400 Atlantic), I come home to find the servers down for maintenance, and last update was they’ll be down for another hour or so.

1:27 p.m. PDT - We’re in the process of testing and implementing multiple fixes for the current service issues. We’ll provide another update in approximately 1 hour.

The last time I had trouble with a game it was with BioShock’s online authentication. Now, I’m not so silly to suggest that I’m not going to play D3; I’m going to play this like mad regardless of the online-only system, but every review, comment, recommendation, or otherwise that I make is going to end up being flagged with my first impression: I couldn’t play it. Really kicks the excitement level down a notch.

[Edit] Just wanted to add, I’m pretty much “oh well” about the difficulties, so no raging going on here. But like any product or service, I do have expectations that it should function as intended. In the meantime, I bought “Dear Esther” on Steam’s mid-week sale.

My wife sent me a text saying she was sick and came home from work. A likely god damned story…

I waited during retrieving characters and eventually got in. I think relogging just resets the queue. BTW, really enjoying the game. An hour just went by in a blink.

Couple of things: Got to play for 30 minutes, and they announced the servers were restarting in 15 minutes. sigh

The auction house didn’t appear to be up at all, which is a bummer, as I have a bunch of rares ready to sell.

To waste some time while I waited for the reboot, I tried starting up another hero. I created a level 1 wizard, and clicked Start Game, and I got a message: “The Diablo servers are full. Would you like to join the queue?”

Queue? Huh…

Newest update:

1:55 p.m. PDT - Starting at approximately 2:15 p.m. PDT, we will be bringing Diablo III servers in the Americas offline for urgent maintenance to address several issues that are impacting the game. We anticipate that maintenance will last for about an hour and that servers will be available at approximately 3:30 p.m. PDT. We will provide further updates as they are necessary. Thank you for your patience.

Found here.

I was in for a full 30 minutes and having fun. Then I saw a chat message they were bringing all servers down in 10 minutes.

That was 11 minutes ago.

Sigh…

That must be why I went into a queue when I went to resume my game. sigh

Interesting to see all the server issues today.

I logged in around 11am PST and having been playing since with no interruption. Monk level 20 now. Game is freaking awesome.

I played earlier today and everything was going very well, no problems at all, then I decided to log off for 15 minutes and when I tried to go back I discovered that I couldn’t because the servers were in maintenance. Yeah… After awhile the servers apparently went back (though I wasn’t able to play again because I was in the queue) and now they will go to maintenance once again. This is fucking bad, really. Even though I can’t say this is totally unexpected, I’m still pretty disappointed.

How can you have no interruption when battle.net servers are offline ?

I suspect one of the urgent issues they are trying to fix is that achievements have been wiped.

I don’t know. I never got booted and have been playing all day. I guess it didn’t effect people in games already?

Are you playing on EU servers somehow? They’re up, just mostly inaccessible. A friend of mine’s been playing for hours.
