Yah, they really need that. Not so much the guild, but just the ability to create your own chat rooms. It’s kind of crazy that it’s not in there…it can’t be all that hard to implement.
can you create arbitrary channels and/or put a password on them? I assume not from that command list…
None of those allows to create your own channel.
/join arbitrarychannelname
might work. I’m at work so can’t test it. Although, I could install D3 on my work desktop… no. Bad, bad idea.
Have you tried? I expect /chan [yournamehere] would do that.
Yea, I don’t quite get that - the majority of people who I spent time hanging out with in WoW were in my guild, and hence I didn’t friend them.
Also, Sepiche, the concept of requiring slash commands in 2012…
Oh give me a break dude… I didn’t write the shit. Are slash commands too much for your delicate little fingers or something?
So you don’t have a problem with MUD commands in 2012? k.
Moving on…
Yes, I’ve tried. You can only join the premade channels.

Slash commands are a stupid pile of shit. If you think otherwise, then you’re wrong. Next you’ll be giving people grief for wanting to move their character with this “mouse” thing instead of HJKL vi-keys.
Not only for chat but basic guild functionality could include a roster so we can quickly view everyone’s progress/class distribution etc. Or a shared guild bank. It would take very little effort to add something like that.
Bitching about a small thing like slash commands? Boo hoo. I’d rather use slash commands than have to click a button or tab with my mouse, simply because I type faster and can keep the mouse working in the game while I type with my off hand.
What exactly would YOU suggest for commands instead of /?

It’s the collection of small things that add up to “Man, maybe they should have hired at least one interaction designer.”
I haven’t played a game in 2012 on the computer that doesn’t have slash commands. Care to give me an example of what you’d rather have seen instead of them. Out of all the things to complain about in diablo 3 (like the server crashes, lag, rubber banding, constant online drm) slash commands seem like the most pointless of complaints.
Um…A UI?
It’s a universal complaint I have. And no, unlike WoW you can’t fix it on your end.
(Chatbar was an essential WoW addon for me)
The Great Slash Command Debate of 2012 aside, you can’t create channels, currently. You can only join the existing channels.
What games are you playing? Better yet, what games are you missing?
I’d much rather have slash commands than a drop-down box or some other UI element. It’s a lot easier and faster to type a command than scan through a long list of commands on the fly.

Its a thrill sharing the joy of computer games with you guys! I swear, we are the most hissy-fit throwing people (myself included) as a group I ever heard about :-D
