Admittedly I probably don’t play as many pc games as I used to. My ps3 and fighting games have been taking up most of my time.

It’s a reason I mentioned it, hoping for some examples of what games don’t use slash commands. I honestly find them the most convenient for myself over other UI solutions simply because it allows me to type one handed while keeping the mouse in the game. Something I do a lot in most games.

Shows that the people here are quite passionate about what they like and don’t like, but don’t become overbearing about it. It’s why I actually joined this community instead of simply lurking like at other sites.

Examples of games without slash commands? Almost all of them? The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that do have slash commands would be MMO games and Blizzard’s own Battle.net games. Maybe TF2 has them? I don’t know, I’ve never needed them.

Well login issues/lag/rubberbanning/etc I expected to see that shit. I didn’t expect to get random spoilers from the game client about plot people.

I turned off achievement messages from friends to avoid that, so at least there’s an easy fix once you know to avoid it.

Good news everybody! No need to hit up the AH for stuff!

This isn’t a bug or exploit, just probably not something that is ‘working as intended’.
In Act 2, take the waypoint ‘Path to the Oasis’ (or whatever it’s called at the oasis entrance). Immediately scope out the area to the NE of the oasis entrance. You’re looking for the mini-dungeon event entrance labeled ‘Ransacked Cellar’ (you might see ‘Rotting Cellar’ as well in the same spot, it’s not the one you’re after).

Go down and there’s a very fast little fight and an NPC opens up his basement, there are two chests – 1 normal and 1 resplendent that always has good loot; I tend to get 2-3 blues, sometimes a rare, at least 2 gems and 1-2 artisan pages every time. There’s a resplendent chest in this cellar 100% of the time.

I’m pretty sure this pops up somewhere in the oasis every single generation, but it often shows up very close to the WP entrance which makes checking for it there very quickly very easy. Quite simple to check for it, run it if it’s there, and then TP, exit game, Resume game, check again. You can do it 12-15 times an hour without even trying to be fast.

Nice exploit. Hopefully, Blizzard fixes that soon.

After I use it a few times… ;)

I’m not sure hitting a single chest 12-15 times an hour is any harder (and certainly a lot less fun) than just playing the game - I am sure I hit 12-15 champion/elite packs in that same time frame, plus I’m earning XP and getting crafting loot drops as well.

I wonder if you can get banned from a singleplayer game for cheating, because cheating… cheating yourself is bad?

Edit:
Minor stuff, cool if you like NASA, astronomy, and how good is the human brain at detecting patterns

Yea, I personally wouldn’t do that, simply because killing monsters is a whole lot more fun. I would call it more a creative use of game mechanics than an exploit.

People are doing it on Inferno where they can’t kill regular mobs yet, let alone champion/elite packs.

The bigger problem is the rezzing/teleporting system I think. Dying needs to mean something or the insane difficulty doesn’t matter. Die 1000 times to get to next checkpoint? Oh well, you got there.

That’s what hardcore is for.

Is there no middle ground between dying is meaningless and dying means you lose the entire game? Dying resets the current area/boss perhaps?

Dying means 10% item damage, which can get quite costly (as I understand it).

Not from what I’ve seen of the speed runners, and it hasn’t been my experience either.

Thanks, Telefrog. I must have rotten luck because that particular cellar only spawned once in ten or so tries, though the alternative cellar holds a vendor NPC who frequently sells rares and also sells runic potions at ~200 gold a pop. So it’s not a total loss unless the dungeon just isn’t there.

I made the mistake last night of playing for a few hours, logging off with a good feeling of really enjoying the game and then, instead of sleeping, logged back in and played another hour but this time I was just trying to level up as quick as I could because I was tired instead of taking my time and enjoying it.

I used to do that with WOW and just got sick of WOW way too many times.

I need to take it slow and steady my first full playthrough.

Cow level. Great stuff :D

If the lack of death penalty bugs you that much, run an egg timer every time you die. The rest of us will be busy playing the game.

This has made me sad. I don’t want to go slaughter that happy, innocent place. Think of the ponies.

AHEM!

Nice. I just added a battle.net authenticator to my account and now i can’t login at all as none of the codes work. Didn’t blizzard basically invent these things?
