I agree with everyone about the loot being dry. It’s similar to the problem I had with Torchlight 1. Where the game just overloads you with so much loot with most of it useless. I just started Hell difficulty and while the game is harder, I’m still barely finding good loot. Either it’s weaker then what I’m using , or it’s boosting stats that aren’t related to my character. I was using the same level 17 pants from act 4 normal until the end of nightmare as I couldn’t find anything better.
One idea I was thinking about would be to make the other stats have some kind relevance to each class, but not to the same point as the primary. Like having intelligence slightly raise the mana or power pool total or increase regen. Just something to make equipping loot less of a binary choice.

They do have secondary effects. STR increases armor, INT increases elemental resists, Dex increases dodge.
Once you can take on elite/champion packs, they’re trivial. I’ve solo’ed Skelly King and Butcher - and they’re pushovers in comparison to the packs you encounter.
Yes, I have to go by others when hearing about Act 2 and beyond - and AFAIK, bosses remain much easier than the packs. It makes sense, because that’s been the case from the beginning of the game - but you don’t notice it much until Hell - because the packs don’t start hurting until then.
They’re not trivial as in they don’t require good gear and experience with the script - but they’re trivial as in they’re MUCH MUCH easier than most packs.
So, no, this isn’t random musing based on nothing at all and no experience - but thank you for assuming it is.

Yep, just hover over the attributes while playing as the class and it’ll tell you what each one does for you personally.

Well, it doesn’t help that the secondary effects are all defensive in nature, and 3/5ths of the classes are almost entirely about not being hit at all at the higher levels.
Actually, I’m talking in comparison with the packs. Anything is trivial once you’ve learned it and mastered it. Problem is that bosses are too easy to learn and master.
Eventually, perhaps, the packs will be trivial - but as of now, they’re often insanely hard in COMPARISON with the bosses.
Up and until the Butcher in Inferno - all bosses have been mostly trivial, except for Izual in Nightmare - which I died on about 20 times. I one-shotted Diablo in both Normal and Nightmare - and died twice in Hell on him because I was tired.
That’s not me being a “skillful kid” - that’s the game being weird in terms of challenge and balance. I’m not a bad player - but I’m not good enough to make those pushover fights well balanced.

This is so true. I was thinking they need to tweak the crafter a bit. If it rolls stats, the stats should only be vitality or the primary stat of the class making the loot. A wizard should never get a strength or dex on a crafted item. I once cranked out 30 bracers trying to get vitality and int. I only got int twice and the final one only had 14 vitality. I got a tun of strength and a few dex based items. It is almost enough to make you give up on crafting completely.
I found out the secret to getting the loot you want. It is called the AH and putting in the stats you want and hitting search.
Also, they need to make legendaries and set items RARE - as in, you don’t see 50 of each on the AH when hitting search. Boost them and give them fun procs - and then spawn them based on drop rates that are tweaked according to number of active accounts.
Let a legendary item be… something like legendary - please.
Considering most of the legendary items are crafted, aslong as people have the materials they will keep crafting them.

I agree in general with the legendaries. Just make them the same as rares, random everything, but with an extra ‘quirky’ stat that could potentially make them even better. So the best theoretical item is a super lucky rolled legendary where you hit on both the regular stats and the legendary stat.
I don’t really understand why hunting rare packs in Inferno is supposed to be end game long term. I don’t mind grinding for items but I want a reason to need them, and if I can already BEAT Inferno than what’s the point?
PvP could change that I suppose.
AM I stupid? Is there a shortcut to salvage your gear rather than dragging a pack full of shit one at a time?
Another mistake in the design. Crafted legendary items? Could there be a worse contradiction in concept versus execution?
Click anvil - click loot.
Dragging!? Click on the Salvage icon (the anvil) and then that will change your cursor to an anvil, then left click on everything you want to salvage.
I do wish for a disable for the “are you sure!?” prompt on yellows, though. YES I’m sure!
If it’s 50 copies from a million players across hundreds of drop chances (a conservative estimate), that’s exceptionally rare. It’s just that before you had zero idea how many existed out in the wild (now you have a rather vague idea, but it;s still better than before), and certainly didn’t have an easy channel to acquire them from (at price, of course).
Jee-zus. I am stupid.
Thanks. Does it say that right under the anvil? I bet it does and I just glossed right over it. I can’t tell you how much dragging I have done. Color me embarrassed.
It’s a cool idea, but I agree Legendaries should be more interesting (if not powerful) and should also require being found. Set items as craftable I’m okay with I suppose, and some legendary items should be crafted (for fun, but not the very best stuff).
I’m sure Blizzard will level things off with updates and changes as the months turn by, and I’m equally sure that a year from now I’ll still be playing (though at a much reduced rate), so I’m not too worried about balance tuning at the moment.
I still think items bought on the AH should be bind on equip.
What!? No way, then I wouldn’t be able to sell my legendaries when I’m done with them! :)
Just started playing. Level 10 Monk.
Question: I just dropped 2k “training” the Artisan, but it seems I’ll need to do that several times to get him up from level 1. Is it worth it?
