I had the dial up authenticator before, now I have the android mobile app that gives you a code to enter every time you play.
I notified blizzard, what was really weird was they left me my armor and weapon, but took all my gold and stash items.
My friend said its because the hackers want me to keep farming for them, lol.
I already played the trial when it was a semi-open beta ;)
I also didn’t get addicted to Diablo 1 or 2, so this is not really “news”.
Lordkosc, at least they left your current equipment…
ah ok.
It’s obvious then. You’re dead inside.
I am pretty sure my enjoyment is somehow tied to a long, stressful work season. With Diablo, I login and while I do have to think a bit, mostly, it is just a spree of destruction where my mind is focused on this one thing and everything else melts away. It is nice to just switch off and sink into it. I was just ripe for this type of game. Normally, I would be all Warlock and Fallen Enchantress and Towns and what have you.
I think you guys are missing the point a bit. Blacksmith in D3 is not for crafting in its traditional sense, it’s for gambling that is disguised as crafting. Yes, you could buy the item on the AH for 50K but you also could have gotten lucky and crafted it for 12K. Or get unlucky and waste 50K without getting what you want, hehe :)
This gambling stuff made perfect sense in D2 as a money drain but introduction of the AH kind of makes gambling pointless unless you’ve decided not to use the AH at all (which many people have decided, including myself, I am only buying crafting mats from it).
IMO Blizzard didn’t think through this whole AH thing and its impact on D1/D2 formula. The game that is mostly about gambling and waiting for random drops kind of loses its main driver when you can just go on the AH and buy those drops for next to nothing.

Or wasted 100k and not gotten what you wanted. I understand it is a gamble system, but it is still broken when you can spend a lot less money AND definitely get what you want via the AH. The odds are really against you, especially for higher level gear as there are more random modifiers to choose from. The player should have far more control over gear that is crafted.
I suppose when you are level 60 and have zillions of gold pieces and nothing else to spend the money on, then yes, at that point, why not? Maybe you will get just the right gear, assuming it isn’t on sale in the AH.
Oh wow, so Hardcore characters don’t share the stash of non-Hardcore characters? All those gems I had too… :(
It would be cool if Hardcore characters couldn’t use the AH either.

The Blacksmith is like the D2 gambling system if you had to pay to unlock higher tiers of gambling. So um, yeah. That sucks.
And you had a chance of getting rares/uniques instead of just magic items for the same cost of the item you were buying. This isn’t true for the Blacksmith.
Well, it’s a HC-only AH. Much less stuff to choose from.
Also, items exit the economy on death. I suspect the HC economy will be much better than the softcore one, unfortunately I’m not going to play HC seriously while they still have server issues.
Okay, I had no idea Hardcore mode was more than just permanent death. That’s really cool.
It’s almost like the system that will eventually support real money sales that give a portion to Blizzard themselves was designed to be superior.
Sorry, that’s fucking tinfoil hat territory, but my blood sugar is low and my lunch got delayed. :)
Well, in the D3 Blacksmith, you can just directly craft rares. So… yeah.
Yup, you don’t share gold, stash, crafting upgrades between HC and non HC characters. Of course, there is nothing to stop you from selling stuff on the RMAH (once it goes live) then using those funds to buy stuff on the HC-RMAH, though the prices on the HC side are running considerably higher.

There isn’t going to be a hc-RMAH. At least, not in the near future.
Ah ok, didn’t realize that. Even if there were, I wouldn’t care, personally. If people want to pay to win, I’ve got no problem with it. I don’t see it as a competition.

Uhhh, It’s the only mechanic worth a damn when most of the game is you being god-like.

Awesome that an amazing game sold so well.
You know what’s funnier?
some analysts thought it would only sell 3.5 million this year, and maybe another half-million next year
They’ve already nearly-doubled that in a week.
Won’t help. It’s tricking the Blizzard /server/ once they’re in your game.
Interesting that estimates would be so far off. I wonder if the inability to pirate the game is related to blowing those estimates out of the water…
