I’m sure quite a few hardcore characters died in the major lag bursts yesterday evening.

Hah, yea, that’s another thing. The game isn’t as “responsive” as I’d like, whether that’s from design, lag, or whatever doesn’t matter. I hate dodging/vaulting away from something and still getting killed by it. And if it bugs me that bad on regular play, I could only imagine my rage in HC. :)

Bingo. Jailer Desecrater Waller Illusionist Invulnerable Minions on charging bulls is just cheap and I don’t care how much defense you have, or how much health you have, or how high your resists are: You. Are. Screwed.

I started my first HC character last night, evidently, RIGHT as the servers decided to throw up on themselves. My still inexperienced monk miraculously survived as I ran away continuing to take damage and I shut her down. I really had, had little in the way of lag issues over the last week. A couple of minor instances of rubber banding had been it.

Yeah, I just don’t see how you can play hardcore with the lag situation, unless you’re really tolerant of bullshit deaths. I’ve died on my non-hardcore character dozens of times now due to lag. The only way I could see playing HC that way would be disconnecting at the first sign of lag, which would mean downtime of maybe 90% (insert joke here).

I know Blizzard has said that they intend to fix Legendaries by imrpoving their stats, but I’d rather they gave them unique qualities instead.

In the reddit Q&A, one of the devs said that part of the legendary revamp was putting more procs on them. It wasn’t entirely clear if those were already existing procs, but the implication was that they would in some cases be new, unique procs.

More procs will not make these items interesting, except crit bonus and attack speed. A poor legendary with 12 life regen and 20 vit will not make these “”"""""""“legendaries”"""""""" stand out. The only thing that could make them visible is to make then very good for specialist or fun. Like… A axe with 5% probability to turn mobs into pigs or that make music or evil laughts wen kill a mob.

No, they mean things like “x% chance to inflict y”, where y is something like bleed or stun.

Well that’s very ‘meh’.

That depends on the values of x and y.

I actually did lose my highest level HC character (only lvl 20) during the lag last night. I’m pretty sure it was mostly my fault, but who knows maybe I would have lived if the servers weren’t so bad.

I was playing with 2 friends with fairly new HC toons and almost lost mine when the lag hit. We were only level 11 or so, but decided to call it a night before one of us got murdered for nothing.

Not fun.

If they’re already planning a “revamp” of Legendary items, so soon after release, I’m speechless. This isn’t an MMO. If this is the case, they really dropped the ball during development.

This should not be necessary so soon after release for a game such as Diablo 3, a company with the rep of Blizzard, and the supposed length of time the game had in development.

Unfortunately, it seems that it is necessary. Makes it ring more true to me that the real Diablo talent left Blizz (and is making Torchlight 2).

Yeah, this is not a worthy sequel - basically.

I’m looking forward to Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile, personally :)

Path of Exiles is awful. In almost every possible way, fail.

I’m sorry to hear you don’t “get” Diablo III. :)

I like Path of Exile quite a bit, though I would like to see more content.

As for not “getting” Diablo 3 - I wish I didn’t - as I would probably like it more.

I “get” Diablo 3 and am having fun with it, no doubt. I’m not a full-on hater.

I’m just very disappointed that they have to revamp items and itemization so soon after release. It’s really something that should have been done during alphas and betas and not 3-4 weeks post-release. I avoided the D3 betas for the very reason that I wanted to play the completed game and not be subjected to wide-sweeping balance changes.

Would you prefer them leaving the items useless for a couple of years before revamping them?

Eh, he quite obviously wants them to get it right during the (long) development time and the betas. Which is entirely fair.

Agreed. But, since they didn’t, it’s obviously better they are addressing now and not after 6 months to a year of “collecting data” or whatever.

Diablo 3 cheaters and hackers bans beginning soon.

Expect the usual “how can they shut off my single player game” internet hysteria.
